eggzactly. FOX always controlled when concept was getting bigger than what they can handle. They hired LOST director for the same, to make a pop korn movie.

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-02-2012 1:46 PMThe only similarity Prometheus had to Jurassic Park, was that at the time they were released in theaters, they both set a new benchmark for how amazing and great special effects and dazzling visuals can be in a Science fiction movie. Other than that, they part ways completely. You really think Ridley Scott cares about some "fictitious" crying fan that didn't like it? An artist must always make art for one's self and not care what other people think, especially whoever you quoted here since they obviously couldn't get beyond their own expectations.
P.S. Ridley was very proud of the efficient, cost-effective, and timely manner this movie was shot in. "spared no expense" is almost the exact opposite of his mentality.

I'm not bashing this movie or anything. It just reminded me of the ice cream scene in Jurassic Park somehow...
You don\\\'t see them fucking each other over for a goddamn percentage!

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-02-2012 2:23 PMBut you're right Shawluv. People don't have a whole lot of imagination these days, so they're content with just about anything.
Every staff member who has ever responded to my posts were all kind people ( Svanya, Cypher, Snorkelbottom) with good arguments, nothing like yours.
You're a member of the staff ??? You should be ashamed of yourself, with all the sarcasm hidden in your post, "you really think" I wouldn't notice?
Anyway, f*ck this well below average movie. I'm done. I sure hope the rest of you can still enjoy discussing this movie, because I sure can't anymore.
Special thx to the staff of Prometheus-movie.com (except Shawluv). This site evolved faster than an alien. Cuddles would have been jealous.

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-02-2012 2:40 PMPeople are spoon fed, and have forgotten to use their imagination. That is so sad. I am certainly looking forward the the second installment of the Prometheus series...

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-02-2012 2:43 PMIs this like my thread I started with quotes from Se7en made to look like a conversation between Scott and a Prometheus hater?
That thread got locked btw. Why it got locked I have no idea. What's funny is I got pms from both people who liked and disliked the film stating that they were upset that it got locked and that they thought it was hilarious.

Obviously, you missed the point here.
Question: " Was Prometheus doomed from the start as was Jurassic Park, because Ridley was surrounded by idiots like Nedry"?

That had panache...
I don't think painting Scott as a doomed idealist surrounded by corruption would be accurate - seems to me, that he projects far too much arrogance and self-assurance and is just too hands-on for that.
I think, if there is failure, Scott has his own fair share of responsibility for it.
He is only a man. Reading around here, sometimes, I could almost believe that people forget it...he is just as able to get caught up in his own hype, or lose edge, or follow a poor strategy, or just flat out get it wrong; as anyone else.
If that does happen to be the case, the World will just keep on turning.

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-02-2012 4:00 PMoh it continues! the shining - perfect - dog turd that is Prometheus!
he was surrounded by idiots that he didn't check! if we'd had the right screenwriter we'd be watching the engineers on a wooden planet complete with monks! someone just beat lindelof to the idea!
RS is responsible for making this his vision - he shouldn't have relied on someone that couldn't provide answers to lost inside of 20 seasons! he's also responsible for people dope smoking in helmets, snake charming, breathing possible noxious atmosphere, non-caring, non-cared about characters, and a plethora of many other Prometheus tragedies! i don't give a **** whether or not he's "only a man." he's responsible for delivering. those guys at Chernobyl are just men too and they were responsible for not ****ing up! maybe that's a little extreme, but when you've been given, what?, a $150 million to slosh around with for an EPIC film - do it right! especially when its expected. the man himself bagged on those that hosed up the franchise and did the same thing! dick!

Inquisitor Tremayne
OvomorphMember0 XPJul-02-2012 4:26 PM@Engineering - i know you believe he did! but sometimes delivery is a little late, bad, not quite done, lacks a good punch line! Good visuals - bad film!

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-03-2012 5:49 AMYes people always seem to bash the writer - were as it was ridley in charge. And some of the awful parts had no dialogue! And have you ever noticed what happens to directors when they get older? They do I reckon get cut off from the outside world - become an island as such and maybe lose there edge etc. - have too many yes men around them. Its life - but this doesn't mean he can't still fluke or learn to be better at the next sequel as films also have allot of luck involved - they are so huge that even the director cannot fully control everything.
ps . will be interesting to see the first version of the script in the blu ray before damon re wrote it.

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-04-2012 10:02 AMHey can't we all just get along. Remember this is just a forum to express our point of view on the film. I dont think that we have to use vulgar language to get our point across. Also there are some here who are just to delicate. They do not like being contradicted. Grow up.

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-04-2012 11:06 AMYou beat me to it Rubirosa, I feel bad about the whole thing...
I overreacted Shawluv… I’m sorry.
You’re a person just like me , who probably has been looking forward to this movie even more than I have (although we can argue about that ), and besides : A friend of the ALIEN-franchise is MY friend and you’re no coward just because I say so at all.
This movie was released right in the middle of my finals and I didn’t have time to mourn yet. I honestly spent more time lurking around/ posting on this forum than studying. WAY more. It was all too much at one point I guess…people posting pissing men in my threads, Prometheus hate goggles, no reactions from staff members whatsoever (unless I piss them off.) They’re the guys/ girls running this site…and I know they probably have their hands full updating the site, deleting nonsense comments etc.
And there wasn’t THAT much sarcasm in your post, Sahawluv. I just reacted like a bull to a red flag…It was ‘a bad call’…I was just expecting some comfort in the comments from these fine people who believe this movie is worth talking about or not, a pat on the back, if you will. Like there…”there facehug,( well not literally), it’s only a movie.”
WRONG. For me it was THE movie, with all the promises made by Ridley about how epic it was and all the viral videos and stuff. I still look at the “Happy birthday David”-video daily since it’s just so awesome…sniff…so unforgettable. I’m not a hater, I’m just majorly disappointed.
But we’re wandering off.
Didn’t my thread have any substance to it? There wasn’t a debatable question I agree… but my thread is almost as ambiguous as this movie is.
Here are some questions I had in the back of my mind:
- Was Ridley surrounded by idiots like Dennis Nedry? (stupid question…I can see that now.)
-- Did you like my little panache? Why or why not? I put SOME effort into it.
- Can this ???Trilogy??? ultimately succeed or is it doomed to fail just like Jurassic Park? Are the ideas in this movie too big for us to handle? Should Ridley have stayed with his flee circus (aka ALIEN)? Hence the title, next time it will be flawless.
- I’m not trying to be rude at all, but doesn’t my sadness about this movie bother you at all? Practically the first answer I received was something along the lines of “ you really think Ridley cares about some fictious fan (that’s Richard Attenborough I’m talking about here , who did all the nature do***entaries, a SCIENTIST), go whine some place else…”
I watched Jurassic Park the other day, and when Hammond was talking sadly about his dream that collapsed, I just couldn’t help thinking about Prometheus. That’s not wrong, is it?
I had to do replace some words to put it into context and that might seem lame or easy to most of you Englishmen or Americans or whoever speaks English at home, but for me it was a whole chore. This scene stirred my emotions and I wanted to talk about it...

OvomorphMember0 XPJul-04-2012 12:14 PMI liked the film alot. But I will agree with you @Gimmeafacehug that the film could of been much better. I feel that the film was rushed a bit. What I mean is that there scenes that could of been much better if only he would of let the scenes rest a bit. There were scenes that the audience would of liked to ponder more on. Where we could digest what was happening. Take it in more is what I am trying to get across. But it is what it is.

Gimm-e
OvomorphMember0 XPJul-04-2012 12:19 PMYou're right, Rubirosa, it is what it is.
Furthermore, there's not much point in debating a movie you don't really like, and I really tried. I'm out of here before I do any more harm.
