MemberOvomorphJun-03-2012 8:05 PMkeeping in mind i have not yet seen
PROMETHEUS for myself (i will see it this coming friday)
i was wondering what the ages are of the folks
who've seen it, and either "loved" it or "hated" it. (or both..?)
if you could, post your age, and why you either loved / hated it
(!!NO SPOILERS PLEASE!!)
it would be much appreciated =)
thanx

MemberOvomorphJun-03-2012 8:19 PMI was old enough to get into the opening night of Alien, Jaws, and Star Wars
Do the maths...:)
Jeez, i even saw Dark Star the week it opened.
The opening sequence of Prometheus deserves an oscar for cinematography, first 20 minutes or so, but most of the rest i'm not sure about, some was good, some not so good. As i have mentioned around this forum, i dont want to be spoon fed, but to quote the Matrix "there is no spoon"
Then again, my background is in evolutionary biology, so maybe i'm confused for other reasons

i am middle aged, and i am curious to see if there is a pattern
in regards to age, and what folks feel about the film after seeing it

MemberOvomorphJun-03-2012 11:52 PMI will watch Prometheus in the same theater I saw Star Wars in when it was released. I was in 3rd grade when Star Wars came out.

MemberOvomorphJun-04-2012 1:43 AM38. Didn't like it. It's not that it wasn't what I expected. My expectations were based on what we'd seen in the trailers (far too much for sure). I just don't think things worked all that well. The story feels messy. Lots of things that just didn't make much sense and seemed a bit .... Frankly daft! Visually one of the best things I've ever seen in my life! Absolutely breathtaking. Just no real substance to back it up.

MemberOvomorphJun-04-2012 1:52 AMI get ya, db73. Ambiguity can be overdone to the point that a story becomes incomprehensible.......but it's also sometimes the case that what initially seems incomprehensible really isn't, after you've had time to work things out.
Have you ever seen either version of "Solaris?"

I'm 30 hated it at 1st but after a2nd view it is growing on me feel it missed an oppurtunity to be great
I now believe after seeing it again and leaving expectations at he door it's a good movie in its own right and i absolutely loved the visuals

MemberOvomorphJun-04-2012 4:21 AM41, always loved Alien so went in hoping for more greatness. Left somewhat disappointed. The trailers give away 95% of the story, the only bits you don't already know are fairly minor points. The publicity around this film has been its undoing in my opinion, viewers are expecting answers to decades old questions and are just left with more questions. I suppose that's the Lindlehoff way. Just hope it won't take six more movies to realise its all a dream at the end.

MemberOvomorphJun-04-2012 5:30 AMI'm 16, been brought up on Ridley Scott sci-fi, Alien, Bladerunner, etc. Loved every bit of it (Prometheus). Thought it left me with enough questions to want more, in a great way.
