MemberOvomorphMay-21-2012 11:29 PMDavid is an android, speculation that Vickers is possibly an android. Anyone think that either Ravel or Chance could be a synthetic? If the Company wants to ensure the mission is completed I would probably place someone on the nerve center of the ship who is unasuming. When at some critical point in combating the creature or containment of the creature, maybe during kamikaze time, Captain Janek shouts why is that door open, it seems as if sabotage might be at play. Ash caught me so completely off guard in Alien and for some reason I see Ravel ensuring the human crew, be it the Captain, Vickers, Shaw or whomever allow the collecton of the species to happen until the Weyland Corp can come and collect. I also think of the possibility of a synthetic other than David encountering either cuddles or the Engineer and the reaction and hilarity that ensues.

No your right, Im sure Ridley told the writers to just recycle every plot point from Alien and mix it up a bit and call it Prometheus.

MemberOvomorphMay-21-2012 11:42 PMI agree with Grindolf, I really hope they don't recycle that plot point. I've said this before, If the company wanted to ensure a mission by way of android why not send a whole crew of them? This plot hole has always been in the front of my mind when concerning the whole "second android theory" in Prometheus.

MemberOvomorphMay-21-2012 11:49 PMthey are all androids? Just like blade runner? Just like "why do androids dream of electric sheep"?
I'd accept it only if this movie ties to blade runner, which rumors have it, may....

MemberOvomorphMay-21-2012 11:53 PMThe scene with shaw waking up and hitting the man in the hazmat suit, the man appears to be chance? He wouldn't need a hazmat if he's synthetic, no? It's been a while since I've seen it but maybe someone could fish up a good pic. I will try.

MemberOvomorphMay-22-2012 12:44 AMIt's just that Ridley is so good, a master of his craft and there is no such thing as an original idea. I'm trying to not see what the trailers are innundating us with, but what they ate not screaming at us. David is an android, ad-infinitum.
Engineer, goo, creepy things. The funny thing is I bet Ridley gets us with the human scwewing human for gain at all cost element. David is so amazing and our reactions to his expressions and Hey everybody, I'm a robot, focus on me, I'm going to save or enslave, become human or screw yuou over thoughts that we debate have me thinking "It's not what they are showing us, but what thet are not hinting at." Of course we won't know until showtime, But I lpve the sublime, didn't expect that moments wich occurred in Alien, which is his baby.

MemberOvomorphMay-22-2012 1:34 AMAnyone considering the fact that if Weyland co. with with it's several million employees to chose from- presumably including a highly trained military or police force/component with top-of-the-line weapons, tech, know-how, resourses-- wanted to stack the deck, where is there any need to stack it with artificial humans?
Davids awesome, but put a trained man or woman in there and you have an even better diplomat with the other humans if any static should happen, couple that with training that kills... i don't see how computer logic and milky blood make for a better ruse or effect.
Er, why not just HUMANS? Why isn't it possible that Vickers, herself is badass enough as a human that she constitutes "muscle". Vickers along with D8 and those who're meant to follow her orders versus the various specialized non-military crew (who aren't allied or trained as a team at all) make the odds appear stacked well enough right there. Also, there's tons of sample-taking right out in the open--nobody there is Ripley c. Aliens and has a notion to halt any kind of return sampling... Indeed that seems the very idea on the Weyland end, as far as the whole team is concerned.
When Shaw & Douche confront Vickers, i don't know what they're smelling but it ain't about samples/specimens--Shaw & geek wouldn't even know any reason to oppose that.
Weyland has "interests" surely, but his henchman would have plenty of space & chance to hide it, and plenty enough muscle to impose it. (considering Prometheus is a Weyland vessel, and David is it's plugged-in familiar, especially given the lack of any need of sustained hypersleep)
There's no Android-party twist here.
That said--if there is, i'm with ya'll!! (ha!) booooo...
Thanks, if you weren't bored.

MemberDeaconMay-22-2012 6:03 AMI dont know what that scene could mean.....
I can only assume that at that point most of the crew are gone, and not many are on Prometheus and its suposed those that are, are on the Bridge.
As far as Blade Runner, yes it was said there is a bit of Blade Runner in there....
Now i dont see a story like that..
So only link had to be Replicants.... which are like David 8 only have Biological parts over Synthetic..... which gave me my theory that Weylands Agenda in part is to use the Fire of the Engineers secrets to change his David 8's into something more Biological and thus create a Replicant.... maybe to then use somehow as a Host for his Mind/Soul thus giving him longer life.
