it seems that Ridley has decided to slow down the male face rape this time
Millburn gets violated in a much slower way than Kane did in ALIEN,
with that split-second ejaculation type violation that we all have either
grown to love or hate over the years, this time it's slowed down just
enough to make most guys squirm
haha! i've gotta hand it to Scott, for once again bringing on
the inherently uncomfortable images and concepts. eeeeeks...!

OvomorphMember0 XPMay-15-2012 4:42 PMnot a spoiler, but yeah. personally, i think they elongated the horror of the facehugger scene in Alien masterfully. it was startling when it flung up into his face, even though you knew it was coming, thinking, "get your face away from that, dont stick your face over that!"
the part where Ash and Dallas cut Kanes helmet off, and Dallas says, "My god," and we wee the thing wrapped around his head like that is completely original and horrifying in its own way.

Yes. It's the best possible press the film could ever get.
In the bonus material on the Alien Anthology Blu-Ray set Ridley himself talks about sneaking around to watch the audience watch [i]Alien[/i] and realizing that when people got up to leave (while carefully making sure not to trip with their hands over their faces), the film was really going to be something HUGE.
I feel that audiences these days are much more jaded than in ’79, but forced oral penetration like that is not something that young males are accustomed too seeing (or even thinking about). It's going to freak people out. The young males won't leave, but other members of the general public will. It's evokes a visceral human fear connected to gagging and suffocation combined with rape.

I honestly don't think that anyone hanging out HERE will be leaving the theater over ANYTHING that Ridley can throw at us. Hell would freeze over first.
But, I do think that (some) members of the general movie-going public aren't going to be able to take some of it.

Of course, I was like 11 at the time I first saw Alien.
My wife takes pride in liking Saw and other horror movies. I can't stand the Saw movies because there doesn't seem to be a story except to move the next blood letting along. Some gore is hard for me to take if it is close to being real, see Touristas for an example, or a Taliban snuff film, yea my wife had me watch one... Horrible. Still, Hellraiser movies don't do much to scare me after the first one.
So, after being told I am a wimp because I don't like Saw (and I stopped watching it), I want to take her to this movie to scare the crap out of her. Then we will see who is the real scaredy cat after seeing a quality horror movie.
