That could mean (assuming that the Engineers fiddled with the xeno DNA) that they don’t really distinguish between masculinity and femininity the way it’s evolved on (and is important for genetic diversity on) Earth.

Not by me. Not in the [u]least[/u]. My reply to the topic was not related to Cypher's comment.
I'm saying that intersex traits or a paradigm of ‘non-gender’ might be the NORM for the Engineers. I'm not familiar with this reported comment by Ridley that there were “perverse things going on on the planet.”
I will find the Engineers much more interesting if they are NOT simply “males (who have lost their females)” as some have posited here.

This creature looks like a penis (or a sperm, depending on the angle) and has a mouth that looks like a china. Though if this creature is compared to the Facehugger, which doesn't look like a penis but has an orifice resembling a vagina (where the tube comes out to lay the egg in a host), I'd say the Cobralien has a smaller vagina.
