Everybody is excited about the upcoming release of the movie Alien: Covenant. Alien is a giant franchise with movies, comics and games. Gaming is a huge part of the franchise, and generates a lot of money because fans of the movies love to carry on the adventure themselves in gameplay. The first game from the franchise was released in 1982 and developed by Fox Video Games. Since then, there have been over 20 various games released. Here are our hopes for gaming tie-ins from the new movie

It would be amazing if the Royal Vegas Australian casino  were to use Alien: Covenant for one of their themed slot machines. The Royal Vegas Australian casino already has some themed pokies from popular movies and television, like Tomb Raider and Battle Star Galactia themed online pokies. With the ardent success and large following of the Alien franchise, it would be a great business opportunity for them to team up with the creators of Alien: Covenant in order to make a themed pokies game for the fans to enjoy. Another option for the online casino platform would be to create themed scratch card game based on the movie. Online scratch card games typically do not use movies as themes as pokies do, but there is no good reason as to why they should not! Scratch card games are gaining popularity, and it would be a pioneering moment in the online gaming industry.

We also want to see some cool multiplayer games that are available on all major gaming platforms: PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and mobile phones. Some of the previous games released from the Alien franchise have not been compatible with all platforms. This is problematic as not everyone has access to more than one type of gaming device. It is also frustrating for fans when a game is not available on their preferred gaming device.  This was an issue in some of the earlier games released, but has largely been resolved, except for widening the availability of games to mobile phones and tablets.

It would be great to also see some more related games. The fact that Alien and Predator are playable characters in Minecraft is something that fans found really exciting. It would be a good idea if there was an updated version of this made available to tie in with the release of Alien: Covenant. As with the idea for themed slots, this focuses on merging Alien: Covenant with an existing and already loved game. While we still love games that are purely based on the movies, like Aliens: Colonial Marines, and Aliens vs. Predator, it is a fresh and exciting thing to have a movie joining a game you already know, and love as much as the movie. Having said this, we still are hoping for a game directly linked to the plot of Alien: Covenant. Some Alien franchise games have not fared as well as expected in the past, and have received criticism for having a weak story line, and awkward gameplay that was paired with subpar controls. We hope that these types of problems will be thought about and addressed when making an Alien: Covenant game for us all to enjoy.

I think Creative Assembly proved the could do a Alien game and if Fox hands an Alien: Covenant project to them i'm more than willing to give it a look.

I think it depends what kind of movie it becomes, that would allow for options for a Game.... but then we could see a number of spin offs or types of game.

I would think a Survival Horror Type would be great but one with more Aliens than Isolation and one where you could kill them... but a movie that weapons are not as readily available as in some of the games before.

I am not sure. Alien: Isolation was wonderful and I would almost definitely buy any future Alien related game for consoles, but the games can be hit and miss with this franchise. I still want an Alien: Isolation sequel, although the style of game kind of makes it a dead end to me (the creative minds behind it would really have to find an interesting way to take the horror survival and mix in something story wise to change the narrative a bit and keep things fresh.)

But I do think that the Alien franchise might be able to reward fox monetarily if it is used more in the gaming arena. Mobile games would be pretty cool. Definitely more well done console games. Another attempt at an Aliens type game or AVP would probably be the most successful and if done right, most fun. Alien: Isolation was a great demonstration of what putting a lot of money and effort into the horror element of the genre can do. Still, it wasn't as successful as the company wanted (even though it did pretty well) because it falls into a niche. Alien isn't super duper universally loved and known as Star Wars or something.

So yes, I agree that Alien: Isolation can be the kicking off point of fox making a real foray into the gaming world with the Alien franchise.

Yes i think Alien: Isolation was a good game, but a similar game based on Alien Covenant would depend on how the movie goes.

I think a game that is similar but has a bit more action but is not a total action game could be ideal. One with limited Weapons and Ammo that pits the player to use them sparsely and maybe also have the player have to think about when and wear to use a Weapon.

i.e a Weapon that is limited when pitted against 2-3 Aliens could take the one out, but then would alert others.  And in other areas maybe the use of a Weapon could lead to Acid Blood in a area that could have consequences.

I'll be a little bit heartbroken if we don't eventually get a sequel to Isolation.  It's not just my favourite Alien game, it's one of my favourite games of all time.  Part of me suspects that there were already ideas for what happens next in Amanda's story.  There's no way that the game's creators would end it that way if they didn't have some idea who was in that ship...

They already confirmed a sequel to Isolation developed by Creative Assembly. Hopefully it would have a better reception. Killable aliens would be nice tho haha.

@aliendejoe, do you have a link to an article or anything with the confirmation? I know the team that worked on it really want to do the sequel (and they kick around tons of ideas about it), but I haven't seen anything about confirming the sequel. Haha I want to though.
