A new production shot has been up loaded. The shot includes director Ridley Scott and Danny McBride on the set of Alien: Covenant! The background looks almost like a ship cockpit, check it out:

The future of Alien
The Alien franchise is taking a dramatic turn at 20th Century Studios, now owned by Disney. Currently there are two major Alien projects in development - a new Alien TV series by Noah Hawley and a new, stand-alone Alien movie being directed by Fede Alvarez. Both of which will be taking the franchise in a new direction - moving away from the Alien prequel direction Ridley Scott set out to pursue back in 2012.

FacehuggerMember488 XPJun-21-2016 8:45 AMThanks Chris! Def looks like the ****pit of the ship and Danny McBride could be a pilot of some sort. The art design of the ship has Alien in it and it is good to see.
FacehuggerMember488 XPJun-21-2016 9:38 AMI'm feeling that Danny McBride will be the Yaphat Koto "Parker" of this film. I think he will have that attitude.
I'm not new here, been following this place for ever just never posted. Besides; you guys and Michelle :) are way advanced any ways :)
I just wanted to drop a line on this pic as I noticed a detail in the background that got me wondering. (enthusiasm building up with a die-hard fan)
I'm sure this could be something similar to a ****pit aswel. Though, then the massive hydraulics (2 units, left center and far right) seem out of place.. Is this in a separate module/pod? I'm just having a hard time imagining why the main bridge would have need for such gigantic hydraulic cylinders that could easily do 30000N or more? I noticed theres some sort of mechanical assembly operated by these cylinders. Releasing mechanism?
FacehuggerMember488 XPJun-21-2016 11:50 AMI'm also thinking this is a separate vehicle that detaches from the Covenant....a landing ship to take the survey team and Danny McBride is one of the pilots that flies the dropship to the surface.
David007: I am not sure if it is so smart to recycle old characters (you mention Danny McBride). The Parker character was well done but I would prefer if they would do something new but at the same time it must be interesting and well thought out.
how awesome is this picture :) the controllers are so Alien! Ridley and crew must be having so much fun. check out mcbride lol Eastbound & Down but in space...He must be the comic relief, and possible horrifying casualty of some bio mechanical nightmare or alien incident...
-control stick (bottom center, just above the blurred patch), and navigational screen (top right, showing a planet with a moon?)
So being very cramped as it appears this might indeed be a smaller vessel. I just feel the Covenant would have a wider scene, fit more team/crew, center of operations.. The "station" with the two chairs just feels like sort of all-in-one: 'Takes just two to operate'...
..lurking indeed ;)
edit: darn.. just finally noticed the image is more hi-res than I first saw.. it is not a planet with a moon on the top right screen/panel.. but something to do with neutrino stuffs..
A lifeboat sort of unit? neh.. Dropship/research pod instead.
Looks like he's getting back to the "space trucker" tech. Floating holograph touchscreens begone!! Well,it hasn't been through the editing department yet...fingers crossed ;)
I agree folks, this looks like a smaller, more cramped ****pit, likely that of a Life Boat or Dropship. Nice job pointing out the hydraulic cylinders in the background. Definitely could act as a detachable unit from the main hull.
FacehuggerMember488 XPJun-21-2016 6:58 PMAfter looking at the external set photos of the partial built ship that was blown up, it is considerably smaller then the Peometheus. Grant it, it is partial as the rest will be added in post production but the walkway is smaller than most bigger ships....
Seems like the same crew patch, that Fass has on his ball cap ... I knocked this up for the Fass ball cap thread ... but here it is again ... for this thread ...
