NECA have just unveiled their official Alien: Covenant Alien action figure! Modeled after the film's antagonistic Xeno/Protomorph Alien, this figure mimics a lot of the other characteristics we've seen with previous NECA Alien figures. However, this one seems to be less skeletal and more muscular / fleshy looking, as many have pointed out since its debut in Covenant's trailers. This Alien figure also has blue vein-like detailing all over its body and the dorsal tubes, originally thought to be used for resin secretion (for hive building) seem to be more articulated than previous incarnations of the Xenomorph. Could these tubes have new purpose in Alien: Covenant? In this image they appear straight upwards while in the trailer, they fan out - almost like wings.
The cranium features a very similar human-like skull detailing behind the crest. Check it out:

The future of Alien
The Alien franchise is taking a dramatic turn at 20th Century Studios, now owned by Disney. Currently there are two major Alien projects in development - a new Alien TV series by Noah Hawley and a new, stand-alone Alien movie being directed by Fede Alvarez. Both of which will be taking the franchise in a new direction - moving away from the Alien prequel direction Ridley Scott set out to pursue back in 2012.
