With No Real Concrete News as far as any Future Alien Movies, it would seem likely to Assume at some point Disney would attempt to make another ALIEN Movie.  The Question would be what Route would they take?

The Prequels are in Limbo, would they risk a Continuation? surely they cant leave it Unfinished?

There has been the Blomkamp Alien 3 Reboot, surely this may-not please some Fans, and would be about Nostalgia.

The 40th Anniversary Anthology Shorts showed some Low Budget Shorts that are Set in the Alien Universe, i think Disney could be Gauging Reaction to these.

Its HARD to please the Fans... and so MAYBE.. we could need a Alternative Alien Movie or Series of Anthology Movies that Do-Not have to Connect to the Alien Franchise as far as Ripley and Directly, and also Do-Not have to Connect to the Prequels Directly and David.

The Franchise does-not have to be Limited to the Path of Alien, and it could introduce another Path that does-not have to Step on the Toes of the Prequels.

By that surely every Event in the Franchise does-not transpire by the Path/Odyssey of David or Ripley.

The following Image will show what i am referring too.

The Blue Arrows show us Paths we could explore as far as Alternative/Expanded Franchise movies that can connect to the Franchise but also become their own Separate Thing much like the Anthology Shorts.

If Disney are trying to think HOW do we carry on with the Franchise, with the Pickle of the Prequels or do we continue with a Alien Resurrection Sequel or Reboot Alien 3.

Then WHY-NOT just have a Clean Slate...

Do a Alien Franchise Movie that can change things a little, and some Fans could even consider these as Totally Alternative just like the Batman 80's/90s compared to the Dark Knight Series and also compared to the Newer Batman Series (Justice League) but these ALIEN movies could still have some connections to the Franchise as far as the Xenomorph (where it came from, where it is obtainable from).

Do you guys think something like this should be the best route to go... a Clean Unrelated (to a degree) Slate?

Such Anthology Movies could be very ALIEN but they could also try something different, but would likely have to be about Xenomorph/Black Goo or Related.

There are Avenues for such Movies....

What became of LV-426 after the USCSS Patna failed to obtain the Specimen (Queen) from Ripley?  Do they ever go back to LV-426 is Nothing Ever Salvageable?

What happened to every Specimen from USM Auriga? Did anything Survive the Crash/Destruction? and what did they do with Failed Ripley 7 Clones Queen?

These are just TWO examples....

I think Blomkamps Alien 5 Plot likewise could work, if they go the route of it NOT having to resurrect/bring back any of the Old Cast... previously to meeting Miss Weaver on the Set of Chappie... Blomkamps Alien 5 never had Ripley, Hicks or Newt.

IF we assume David is the Creator of the Xenomorph, then by the Time of ALIEN is the Derelict the ONLY source to his Experiments/Creation, so nothing can be had on Planet 4, Origae-6 or LV-223?

So we dont have to follow the Path of what David does next, or what happens to Ripley next... the Xenomorph  (or similar) should be at the Forefront of a ALIEN based Franchise.  (not inc expanded route to Prometheus).

The Anthology is all that is needed really. The prequels sort of ruined it for me in a way. I think it is ok to explore the Engieers but we need to get back to the grittiness, the low fi and overall suspense. I would include AVP into the mix.

Prometheus had some great ideas, but they needed more time to get the story accross.

Good tree.

I can't imagine how Alternate ALIEN movie can be a precursor to Alien: Resurrection? I mean - it's Queen/Aliens route, not Alien.

The Franchise does-not have to be Limited to the Path of Alien

Why not create a new IP for new creatures?

Then WHY-NOT just have a Clean Slate...

I like this idea. It will not necessarily be a hard reboot or non-connected route. No. Again, Godzilla for example. Mostly Godzilla films used only the first film as base. This is work. With Alien franchise, it can be a soft reboot route with Alien/Aliens/Prometheus.

Do you guys think something like this should be the best route to go... a Clean Unrelated (to a degree) Slate?

Sometimes you just need to plant a new tree. :)

the Xenomorph  (or similar) should be at the Forefront of a ALIEN based Franchise.

Exactly. This is called Alien, eventually. Engineer and other races or species is just a... sauce, seasoning for Alien. We can get a film about Engineer's civilization, but Alien should be placed in the center.

Certainly Leto...

We can introduce Engineers in a Alternative Alien Movie or sequel to one, this could then get Fans Interested in the Engineers, and then they could go and do a Expanded Engineers Franchise that does-not have to be about Xenomorphs.

"I can't imagine how Alternate ALIEN movie can be a precursor to Alien: Resurrection? I mean - it's Queen/Aliens route, not Alien."

With the Example above i was thinking its open to explore a connection.

By that Alternative Movie (1)  (Path 2) could cover a return to LV-426 and obtain the Derelict, which could be like a Blomkamp Idea meets Colonial Marines, as in they Discover and Dig Up the Derelict and then Erect a Hanger Around it, and the END of this Movie we see LV-426 Destroyed like the Death Star in Star Wars.

The Connection to Alien Resurrection is this shows us 100% WHY it was 200 years after Aliens and WHY they had to resort to Clone Ripley... so we get none of the could the Derelict had Survived.

Alternatively Alternative Movie (1)  (Path 1) could END with a Sequel  (Alternative Movie (2)) to these Events, where they still have a Specimen, or obtain one.  But then at the END of this one we are shown the Specimens are Destroyed, this giving us insight to WHY they had to Clone Ripley in Alien Resurrection.

Alternatively the other route to Alternative Movie (2) (Path 3) would be a Sequel or Parallel Story to Alien Resurrection, like what happened to Ripley 7 Queen could this had been Shipped to another place for Study?  or Alternatively is there something to be Salvaged from the Auriga?  And so would not connect to Alternative Movie (1)  those Arrows are only to show Potential Routes

I had a few years ago came up with 4 Alternative Alien Movies as such.

*Parallel Movie to Alien Resurrection were a sample of Ripley 8 DNA and the Failed Ripley 7 Queen are shipped off to a Outpost near Jupiter.

*Sequel to Alien Resurrection, were Ripley 8 begins to Evolve into a Hybrid (her Xeno DNA overtaking her Human) so she is taken to a place by Call where some Autons can Save her... but they instead use her to Produce Xenomorph Hybrids.

*Alternative Movie where a Human Mining Colony are struggling to Mine through a New Mineral so they send in for a more Powerful Drill, this uncovers a Cavern with some Ancient Related Xenomorph Beast and latter a Engineer Ship... this was intended to kind of tease where the Engineers uncovered a Organism they then used to Re-Engineer into the Xenomorph.

*The USCSS Patna leaves Empty Handed but they do have the Face Hugger that Infected Ripley and they Experiment with this, and create a Hybrid.

Those were 4 Stories i had began to a degree... but abandoned... the Ripley 8 one i had the other month came up with a Alternative that will bring back Newt, and change the Plot a bit...

I get loads of ideas in the Franchise as far as a Broad Synopsis and Plot Points the Movie idea would follow, but then i dont get FAR as far as to Flesh them out beyond say a 4-5 Page Idea.

"I mean - it's Queen/Aliens route, not Alien."

I think i know what you mean now ;)    what i was meaning by Alternative Alien Movie.  Is not a Remake of Alien or such, but just more Alternative Alien Franchise movies, that dont have to say follow Ripleys Story... or Davids.

So for Example.... Alien Isolation is such a Alternative Story.   Likewise the Various Novels.... say for example. Alien: The Cold Forge

So its like suggesting if we had Movies instead of Novels, but in a way that the Story/Plot does-not conflict with any of the Franchise Movies.   I will have to read some of the Novels.... the only Ones i ever had are ALIEN and ALIENS as in Official Novel of the Movie..  but that was many years ago.

I have Alien Covenant Origins but i misplaced it and had yet to read it.  So i will have to read some of the other Novels and just enjoy or try to enjoy them for what they are, i dont have to consider them Canon.

I keep coming back to the idea of a non theater series to explore all these nuanced things a 2 hour movie cannot cover. For example, exploring WY and perhaps the Xeno but keeping it looser and calling it (like BD) suggested) Building Better Worlds.

Certainly DK

As discussed a few times there is Scope for expanding the Franchise beyond Movies and some Elements are best suited to a TV/Streaming Service.

Weyland-Yutani are not just about trying to obtain a Xenomorph, just as much as the Engineers are not just about creating such Horrific Bio-Weapons.

I am not 100% sure a Weyland-Yutani Series would be beneficial to be looking at the Xenomorph, but maybe the odd part would not hurt, but there are MANY other things Weyland-Yutani do.

Likewise a Colonial Marines TV/Streaming would also be something  to consider as once again these Marines do-not solely just go around trying to take out Xenomorphs.

In context to doing Anthology Movies, the idea is basically like looking at some of the Expanded Novels, or those TV Shorts and imagining these being expanded into a Movie.

So a Anthology Movie could be a group of unrelated to a degree Movies that would feature Xenomorphs or similar (Deacon, Neomorph or other variants).  or it could become a NEW series of Movies that are separate to the Ripley/Alien Saga or Davids Prequels.

You could maybe introduce Engineers in them, if you are careful about them not contradicting or affecting the Alien Franchise.  Some Movies could be more a Aliens/Alien Resurrection type Action Based, others could be more a Alien/Alien 3 Haunted House/Survival Horror type or maybe a Balance of the Two.

Number of Avenues to explore.... some of these are related to the Prequels, which is maybe better to NOT touch, such as LV-223, Planet 4, and Origae-6 mainly because we have NO conclusion with the Prequels and so intentions of what becomes of these places.  But that does-not mean a Alien Movie set after Alien could-not take place on such Worlds.

We have LV-426 and so when looking at Colonial Marines Game, a similar Plot could work (The company go back to the Derelict and attempt to obtain/extract it).  We could wonder what happened to Failed Ripley Clone 7 removed Queen.

Or we could go to other Worlds/Avenues that are NOT in the Alien Franchise....   I think that Alien Covenant has caused a Problem with this however...

By that IF it is that David Creates the Xenomorph, so that his Beast from AC will Evolve to become that in Alien/Aliens, then looking at the Aesthetic we see the Xenomorph in Alien Covenant, Alien, Aliens, Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection all have a similar look..... compared to the Deacon and Neomorph.

So we have to assume any Movie that would introduce Xenomorphs we would have to assume these Originated from David's Experiments and got to the SAID World/Ship via a Event after Alien Covenant.

Because we have to assume the Aesthetic Design of those Xenomorphs came from David's various Experiments and Combining different Organisms, and so in context to David Creates the Xenomorph, then other NONE Created Horrors from the Black Goo and Engineers Experiments would look DIFFERENT, but have some similarities... like how the Deacon and Neomorph are Different but have some Similarities.

Where as before Alien Covenant or IF we are shown that David did-not Create the Xenomorph and so its been around for Thousands of Years, then any Expanded Movie could encounter Xenomorphs or very Similar in any place really.

If they make characters that we can connect with, stop the android crap, and introduce something new then why not? The Engineers is something that could be expanded on (not really new but at least it is fresher than the Xeno and more interesting than the androids). About the prequels, if they do not continue with it then I would not be sad because they have turned what could be interesting into a yawn.

No thanks to Blomkamp, it would be a recycling at least if they have Ripley and Hicks in it. If they do not have them then maybe it could work but anything that retcons Alien 3 is something that I will be against.

Maybe they could find things that are interesting in the shorts and expand on that. At least they were better than what we have been given after Alien 3.

No Ripley and no David thank you very much. Ripley is done and David is not very interesting to me after Alien Covenant. The theme of an android that has gone bonkers could work if they have human characters that are well written but AC did not have that in general.

I would rather start it all over than to continue with the prequels if that means more David at the cost of everything else, also please no more Ripley, or AVP.

Maybe LV-426 is not needed, I enjoy seeing new worlds although that is not enough. Did they not visit LV-426 in Aliens too? Give me other worlds that I can see how they look like.

"IF we assume David is the Creator of the Xenomorph…"

No thanks, that is crap. They need to change that in the franchise the faster they do that the better.

A random idea: I would like to see how the Xenos work without a queen, that would be interesting. Would they figure out another structure to communicate and so on? Not having a queen could mean more than egg-morphing but I am not sure how.

some Good Points Thoughts_Dreams

The Purpose of this Topic was to think HOW can the give us Alien Movies in context to being about Aliens as in Xenomorphs or Related, that does-not have to revolve around David or Ripley.

Introducing the Engineers could be interesting, it depends on WHERE/WHEN we do a Movie where they are introduced as we need to be careful to NOT step on the Toes of the Franchise.

So if we want Engineers with Xenomorphs or Similar then we have to maybe either be set in a place FAR away from where the Alien Franchise takes place or a Time-Line thats AFTER the Alien Franchise.

Which as i said IF the Xenomorph Origins are via David then this limits any encounter that would include the Engineers to maybe introduce something that is LESS Xenomorph.

The Prequels have been Hit/Miss....  Prometheus intending to go off to something different, but FOX feeling that Fans wanted Xenomorphs and Origins and so we ended up with Alien Covenant.

Where do you take the Prequels?  This is something thats HARD to continue and please a lot of people.

A Nostalgia Reboot of Alien 3 is not the Answer, and a continuation of Alien Resurrection about Ripley does-not have to be the ONLY way to carry on the Alien (Xenomorph) Franchise.

So there are other ways to cover the Xenomorph or similar, and if we want to throw the Engineers into the Mix, its limited unless we explore Monsters that are not quite Xenomorphs, unless they go the route that David did-not create the Xenomorph.

I think the NEXT ideal way to explore the Franchise is one of these!

1) A Alien Prequel that visits LV-223. (Give clues to Xenomorph but maybe not have them).

2) A Aliens Sequel that goes to LV-426 (Cover Xenmorphs but maybe change things a bit)

3) A Alien Resurrection Sequel (that could change things a bit and does-not have to have Ripley 8).

4) A Parallel Alien Resurrection Movie (that covers what happened to the Failed Ripley 7 Clone Queen)

5) A Mission to another World that the Engineers have experimented on, or that there experiments originated from (prior to LV-223) or other World they had used Bio-Weapons on.

"A random idea: I would like to see how the Xenos work without a queen"

I think that would be interesting as well as discover HOW/WHEN a Queen comes to be.
