Yeah I read that.
Pretty distinguished service record:
I spent six years in the United States Marine Corps; I hold thirteen combat awards and decorations, including two purple hearts. I was the first black Marine in the 1st Marine Division in Vietnam to be meritoriously promoted to the rank of sergeant; I served with Kilo Battery, Fourth Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division, of that I am very proud.

Yep, he had actual Marine combat experience. It definitely showed, much like R Lee Ermey from Full Metal Jacket.

Sad news :( R.I.P
Alright sweethearts, you heard the man and you know the drill! Assholes and elbows!

Extremely sad. Easily one of my favorite characters from Aliens. He will be greatly missed. :(

What's the bet Al's teasing Bill Paxton about his slippers up on some cloud somewhere.

Thanks for the Apone character, that he was an experienced military in real life probably helped when he was making the role. Didn’t they have some extras on the Aliens DVD where they interviewed some of the actors in Aliens where me mentioned something about him having military experience? I have some memory of this but I can be wrong.
