Alien Covenant is not nominated for an Oscar 2018 but Blade Runner 2049 (directed by Denis Villeneuve, produced by Ridley Scott) is among the nominees in the following categories: Visual Effects, Cinematography, Production Design, Sound Editing, Sound Mixing.

’Guillermo del Toro’s “The Shape of Water” continued its awards show streak, leading the pack with 13 nominations. Martin McDonagh’s “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri” followed behind with nine nods and “Dunkirk” with eight. All three films earned best picture nominations. The rest of the category was rounded out by “Call Me By Your Name,” “Darkest Hour,” “Get Out,” “Phantom Thread,” “Lady Bird,” and “The Post.”

The Academy Awards — hosted by Jimmy Kimmel for the second time — will air live on ABC on March 4.’

Blade Runner 2049 - Denis Villeneuve, Ridley Scott, Harrison Ford, Ryan Gosling are talking in a BTS photo taken in Budapest, Hungary. Now we know that they were talking in Deckard's apartment. :)

 Kudos to those award recipients. It would be interesting to see a fan driven show (I know there are some) that go off the beaten path.

I was surprised a little bit to see Nolan('s Dunkirk) in that category.

And I don't understand why The Last Jedi is nominated in the cat. Visual Effects.
