Premeditated Suicide post Facehugger.

This is completely speculative and up for grabs.

Scenario: You are aware of the Alien life cycle. You are on a mission and lose conciousness. When you wake up, you see a dead Face hugger a few feet away. You do the math and come to an uncomfortable truth. With no means of a successful surgical removal and you are alone, here is the question: Honestly as far as you can imagine, would you end it yourself or search for a way to possibly survive?

I cannot imagine a suicide and would probably foolishly look for an alternative. I could probably only do it if I was in a state of not being aware of what I was doing.

It is a gruesome topic, but there it is. What would be your honest assessment of yourself?

These kinds of "What would you do" scenarios are always a lot of fun to partake in, great topic!

As for me personally, assuming we are aware of the Alien life cycle and what is to come following a Facehugger's attachment, I would likely find myself some pills and put myself to sleep. If no pills were present then I would probably have a harder time deciding on what to do. Are there any guns within reach? I personally could not choke / drown myself and I would not be prepared to stab myself - death would be slower that way than just letting the Alien do its thing.

The horrifying part of this scenario is, unlike portrayed in the movies, if one was to contract an Alien virus like this, upon "bursting", you would not die right away...

You would experience tremendous pain as your rib cage is exploded, but from what we've seen and X-Rays showing where the Chestburster resides, the heart and lungs would remain somewhat functional while the ordeal is taking place.

Also, the brain would be active for a while too. Unlike the Neomorph back-burster in Covenant, which would sever the spinal cord from the brain (which would be BETTER as you would lose feeling of what's going on almost instantly), the Chestburster rips through the rib cage which although extremely painful is not enough to kill you right away.

So, basically if one was to give birth to a Xenomorph in real life, you would probably convulse while the little guy clawing his way out, your adrenal system would go into overdrive, you would probably seizure and/or pass out. But if you manage to stay awake and your fight/flight response makes you attempt to survive the ordeal, you would experience unimaginable pain, followed by the trauma of bleeding out. You would probably be awake for a while while the Alien leaves your body, unless it cut any major arteries on the way out. Your death would be extremely painful and relatively slow.

So, I think suicide would be the quicker, less painful option. The difficult part is wrapping your head around actually committing to it and following through. I can't say that without a medically induced alternative, I would be capable of doing such a thing. Hard to say, but a good scenario to think about. I'm curious to see what everyone else says.

I think a lot depends on knowledge of the Cycle...

If you knew of this, then you would have to find a way to Kill Yourself, and the Xenomorph, which would require a Heavy Wound to the Chest, like Shotgun, or Impalement on a Large Stake etc, or Explosion or Fire.

A lot depends on if you knew how far gone you was with the infection and if the Xenomorph requires a Live Host, or just a Host who is not decomposing.   Thus would a jump off a Tall Building, actually effect the Xenomorph?

Trying to get it removed would be tricky, because then you would have to consider the potential for when its removed and who by, what kind of Agenda they would have with the Organism.

Its for that Reason, that i think Ripleys Sacrifice in Alien 3 was the only real way to deal with the situation.

Well, if there was no way of surviving, I guess I would try to do like Ripley (kill myself and take the creature with me). If there was an ocean nearby, I would probably swim out and drown myself. Unless the little bastard can swim . . .

Chris Pills and drugs in general would seem the best way to go- going to sleep forever basically. A complication might be that it takes time to ingest, go through the blood stream to the brain and take effect. Meanwhile, as was pointed out, internal hemorrhage and pressure on the lungs could slow that process. Even if it was a back burster- yes, it would cause paralysis and loss of sensation to the body, but it takes somewhere around 8 minutes before brain death happens- that could seem like a long time lying their knowing you are done for. It seems one would die in fear and slowly fade out as the brain dies.

That's easy.   I'd shoot myself in the head.

Now, if there are no guns....

I'd eject myself out into space.  I'd have to make sure that everybody knows the situation and that they need to be on alert (that's if they don't know that someone, somehow got "infected").

Actually, it would be best if I could shoot myself while someone ejects me out into space so that the rest of the crew (if there is a crew) can survive.  Hopefully I would have the only alien.

If there is no crew, then shooting myself or eject myself into space would have to do.

I assume dying in the vacuum of space would be instant?  I guess I would know if I was on a space mission.

Let's say I didn't know how painful being exposed to the environment of space is and I chickened out.  The main reason I would chicken out is because I don't want to suffocate (I fear suffocating...especially drowning).  Still, I think the cold of space would kill me instantly.

I would definitely kill myself.  I don't want to experience something eating its way out of me...

Some insects breed like the Xenomorph on Earth.  I'm glad I'm not the prey.

There was a story in Australia some time ago about an old farmer who got himself bitten by a snake (A Brown from memory - deadly anyhow) early one morning. He calmly called the ambulance who were an hour or two away, then grabbed a six pack of beer, found a nice tree with a good view and kicked back to let fate take its course. The paramedics arrived and saved him. They asked why he didn't wake his family and get them to haul his ass to the nearest Hospital. He told them he didnt want to be a bother. Funny enough the alcohol and his relaxed immobilised state saved his life by limiting the venom movement.

Not gunna help in this scenerio, you're still a deadman.... but for those whom suicide is not an option or preference for whatever reason...this is the way to go. Hammered drunk with a nice view lol

Well in the alone scenario....I would probably panic before the chestburster performs his jack in the box impression.

In a more idealized situation I would call up the Weyland-Yutani Corporation and strike a deal as long as they can remove the little bastard out of me and I survive the surgery, they can do what they hell they like with the xenomorph....as long as I can live comfortably, I will not blab on the Corporation.
