To me, it seems as if things have gotten a little bit dull here for awhile. probably because almost anything there is to talk about, there is already a topic for. There hasn't been any news on awakening in like 2 months and all of our fan theorys seem to be exhausted. just exited for preproduction for awakening so we can have more to talk about.
food ain't that bad! - Parker
Well, maybe it is dead or just wandering what to do now, as they f*** themselves over.
Ridley is really busy! Has so many irons in the fire.
IMDB does list the sequel in pre-production.

some of them are only announced even in 2017... And Blomkamp Alien will never happen.
Timmy the ultramorph - The movie opens in Japan in September (15th), then we have Blade Runner 2049 in October, so I think no official info/announcement before these events.
Well during shooting of Alien Covenant, RS/FOX and Logan would have discussed a sequel as AC was being set up for a sequel. It would appear that FOX/RS would want to get the next installment out sooner rather than latter and i would assume they would have wanted to begin Production some time in 2017.
After Alien Covenants release at the Box Office Ridley Scott had confirmed that Logan is at that very Moment working on a sequel and they hope to start production within the year for release about 18 months.
So a sequel released sometime in 2019 looked on the cards.
Due to the disappointment with Alien Covenant, who knows what the plan is now, i think they are having to reconsider some things and you can bet at FOX HQ they will be wanting to know why Alien Covenant did not do as well as planned.
So i would think this could delay things... But i still think the sequel will go into Production within the next 8-12 Months and i will Safely Assume that the Next Movie will be released in 2019.
R.I.P Sox 01/01/2006 - 11/10/2017
I think the earliest that pre-production would start would be early next year. Scott is supposed to film at least one movie before Awakening, I believe.
Not a map, an invitation
Hopefully we hear something soon and like Ati says we still have the Japanese release.
"The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts."
They know A:C was polarizing movie. They won't wait another 5 years to release a sequel. I still think that third movie will be released in 2019.
Needs to be sooner rather than later, for everyone's benefit, but especially the franchise's.
Hopefully they will start soon.

To me the problems were mainly about:
- The human characters were too weak. The only human character that I got some idea about how he was, was really Oram and that is probably because he was a captain and had an important position there.
- It had too much focus on the AI part
What is important to me is that they mainly focus on the human characters and put the AI story in the background even though androids play an important part. Compare it to how Ash was in Alien, he was still important to what happened (he let Kane on-board with the infection) but he was still not the main-character. Bishop was an important part of Aliens but he was still on a more equal level as far as how much attention that he got compared to the rest. Ripley wasn’t as much the center of the story in Alien compared to the sequels, it was more equal in how much attention each character was given but that is how I see it even though I can be totally wrong about this.
They got to have more fleshed out human characters that we can connect with. Unfortunately both Prometheus and AC suffered from this. I am not sure what happened since both Alien, Aliens, and A3 got this part right (this can really be questioned about AR and AvP but I haven’t watched AVPR and probably won’t bother). Bring in a writer that is good at writing human characters that are like people that we can meet in real life. Once they got this part right they can think about ships, the environment and how that shall look. No matter how good a movie looks, as long as the human characters are weak the movie will be a disappointment.
