Mr H weighs in on the future of the Alien franchise

Mr H is one of the most popular youtubers and Alien fans, with more then 68.000 subscribers. In his most recent Alien Covenant video, he weighs in on the possibility of Fox cancelling the franchise based on Covenant's poor performance, mentioning that the cost of the advertising campaign could have been equal to that of the movie budget itself, and that the film had an overwhelmingly bad response from the fanbase. He continues to say that Fox is a very reactionary studio, and takes audience reactions very seriously. I personally hope, like BidDave says, that is just a wake up call for Fox, so they learn from their mistakes and next time they deliver the goods. What do you think? Can this franchised be saved?

I followed the Mr.H. channel since about the start. He is only reacting to what he has seen on AVP and here.

The news normally breaks on AVP then here then the You Tubers. There is a pattern if you look closely around this sort of thing.

My theory Mr H read something on here or AVP or from a tweet and he went with it.

He seems not to positive around RS and the stuff he comes with regarding news is normally a few hours after the sites mentioned. It rarely if ever gives us any more information than we already had.

I would read ZERO into this. PLZ

I think he does a great job, and actually he has been much more positive about Covenant than The Hybrid Network, the other big channel specialized on everything Alien.

He sounds like Colin Salmon, from AVP.

When BluRay, digital sales and broadcast rights are taken into account, Covenant will make a fortune for the studios, so there's a lot of guff about it not making enough money.

I really hope the Weyland/Yutani merger is not affecting the next movie release?   HAHA!!

joylitt -

I think Mr H. does a great job too. I wasnt having a go at him, just saying he probably got his news the same way we did.

His character breakdown and theories are always a good watch and he clearly loves this franchise.

He was careful and respectful with his reviews on A:C and i watch most of his A ans P stuff.

He seems pretty honest too

@sherris I've noticed the same pattern in his videos too.

Honestly, I liked Alien Covenant more than Prometheus. The parts with the back burster and faceburster legit freaked me out, I was shaking it was so gory and usually I don't get disturbed easily.

Lilly -

Yes he is heavily influenced by here and AVP ;)

Oh and the back burster ? That was amazing. That whole scene anyways ;) i thought Faris done an amazing job at losing the plot !! That was some performance and it was the most just out right disturbing part of the movie

I love Mr H videos. He has such a dramatic voice, like the David Attenborough of Alien species. The other Alien/Predator channels just don't have the impact his videos do.

hello,

quite the flattering introduction!
just to clarify a few things though, as I wouldn't want anyone to be misled or have the wrong image of me or how I create my content.

1. I have not, nor have I ever said I was hired to be featured on an alien audiobook, I wish I was, unfortunately no one in that industry knows me, nor wants my voice
2. with regards to my "claim" the marketing budget equalled the production budget for alien covenant, this was a generalisation of what most marketing campaigns can be chalked up to, I don't know facts and figures and I chose my wording carefully to reflect that, as making false claims isn't the best thing to do!

a rule of thumb for calculating the marketing budget of a movie is 50% of the production budget, its quite a widely accepted rule of thumb, but alien covenant had a much larger marketing push than most movies out today, it was quite literally everywhere, to the extend they even plastered it on trams, underground and tubes etc. so it was larger than 50%
3. where I got the news of this was neither your website, or AVP galaxy, when a news story breaks and I get it from a certain place I always mention that, or link it. as for theories, theories are far and wide and not exclusive to either here or avp galaxy, please don't claim i just read it then made a video on it, thats quite egotistical, other people can have ideas, sometimes they match up :) or share similarities :)
as for the compliments, thank you so much, this was quite a surprise to have this sent to me, the channel has become something I couldn't even imagine.

MrHreviews Glad to hear from you directly. I must have misunderstood the information that was shared in one of  the hybrid network podcasts. Have my apologies for the mix up. I edited the info. Keep up the good job! Your videos rock :-) BTW If you read this try to cover Alex Garland's new project "Annihilation"; I read the books it is based on and it is outstanding sci-fi.

no need to apologise dude :) genuinely, I think I know how that mistake came around, nick likes to joke, much like everyone else, that I sound like Colin salmon (max from avp) and as he was recently working on the alien audiobooks, its likely it was joked around, due to the likeness.

again, no need to apologise! just wanted to clarify and get that out there lol.

thank you so much for even watching my stuff! means a lot to me.

I wasn't meaning in any way negative about youtubers using different names on here, just meant in a way to keep their identity private which they would be entitled to do. I don't see anyone on here using any names that resemble youtubers but im sure they come on sites such as this and avp for research. was just curious if there were more as they may have different and more accurate sources
