......is not caring anymore" Ridley Scott.
I'm done with this guy.

That's not how that phrase goes lol I find it funny people want Ripley back through Neil's Alien V but aren't happy that she could be tied into the prequels somehow?
"The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts."
An older Ripley in Alien II (right after Alien - 1979) would be OK, I think, but a young one... why? ...I don't know...
At least two films before a young Ripley movie? Awesome! :)
I think what Ridley will do is introduce her parents and a child Ripley as opposed to an older one.
"The trick, William Potter, is not minding that it hurts."
This adds a fate/predestination vibe to the story instead of her being a regular person dealing with unexpected circumstances. No thanks.
I'm in full agreement dk
agreed with dk. Plus Family links were done with Alien: Isolation. lets leave it there, that worked and was a plausible scenario, daughter looking for missing mother. But if we start bringing in Ripleys parents and distant relatives (Maybe a long line of Jonesy's too) it's going to get really cheesy and lame
Yeah, I don't need to see a direct Ripley tie-in. Too forced.
Don't like it. BUT tbh, I assume that if it does happen eventually, it won't ruin a movie or the franchise for me. No matter what though, it will make the world of Alien feel much smaller.
Not a map, an invitation
I did think this would happen... and more so now.
Because AC was not a sucsess it did not do as well as FOX/RS had hoped, they changed the plans for Prometheus 2 so to give us a more Alien Connected movie and by-pass what ever a direct Prometheus sequel would cover... a True Prometheus 2 would have taken place between Prometheus and Alien Covenant. But FOX had seen reaction to Prometheus and the direction it was going and reaction to Blomkamps Alien 5
And so they thought and decided they had to bring in the Alien and make this a movie that connects more to the Xenomorph than Engineers or Dr Shaws questions.
So FOX gave Fans the Alien, with Eggs, Face Huggers, Chest Busters and Big Fella.... they Market the movie Heavy on it being a ALIEN MOVIE
But it did not do well.....
So they would be asking now, what else is missing, what made the Alien Movies what they was and the Answer is ELLEN RIPLEY
And i feel at least they have to bring her back so as to maybe see if this would Sell $$$$ for the next few installments and they may even try and bring Miss Weaver back.
Looking at the interview RS has said that eventually Ripley would be connected back... and eventually as in prior to the Alien Events.
The interview is a bit confusing because its kind of like RS is making up stuff as he goes along and contradicts previous foundations from the previous movies.
"The time constraints, of what's the time between this film, where we leave David going off heading for that colony, I think you're probably two films out from even considering her."
Its how do we take this comment? It could imply that Origae-6 is already a Colony and the Covenant are not the first to arrive, they are just another group who are heading to set up and expand upon the Colony. But so much of the back story to AC seems to go against this. From the 10 years of planning, to the Covenant being the FIRST Large Scale Colonization attempt to have gone THIS FAR out.
Also how they seemed to think Planet 4 was more suitable than their destination... surely if a Colony had already been set up on Origae-6 then they would know what this world is like, But then Daniels and Jacob had planned to build a Cabin on a Lake and so we have to ask are they hoping this World has Lakes or do they know it has?
It could mean that David is heading to the Colony as far as the intended Colony however.
We have to consider Origae-6 is still 7 years away, and so a mission via the Covenant to Origae-6 and back to LV-223/426 would be like a 15 + year trip. Maybe more when we consider the Covenant had to Stop to Re-charge and so it has to do so every few years.
Alien takes place 17 years after the events of Covenant yes its 18 but we have to consider it would only be 18 if the events of Alien are December 2122 which it is not.
Also the Derelict would have to be there for more than a few Months or Weeks surely?
So i think and looking how RS seems to think we will not discover Ripleys Origins until the movie after Alien Awakening and how it seems she will be revealed as someones daughter and how he said within Time Constraints he is not meaning to imply a Flash Back... This means that Ellen Ripley would be nearly 13 years old as of the time of the end of Alien: Covenant.
So she would be 20 years old by the time David and the Covenant Ship arrive at Origae-6 and so if Ripley is part of a all ready established Colony on Origae-6 they would need to show us a 20 year old Ripley by the time they arrive at Origae-6
But we will not see Ripley or a connection in the next movie, maybe its the one after, and so we then have to wonder WHY is Ripley not revealed in the next movie.. if she is part of a Colony on Origae-6
Unless the next movie is set prior to arriving on Origae-6 as any movie that is set on Origae-6 with the Covenant would be 7 years down the line.
Ripley could be on the Covenant, but then if she is in Cryo-sleep and we wont see Ripley Connections in the next movie, this means surely she is not awoken in the next movie, and so it would be 7 years latter and we have to then ask what does Cryo-sleep do a Person?
Ripley would be what 10-11 years old by the time the Covenant had set off, does 8-9 years in Cryo-sleep have any affect on Aging?
Would a 11 year old in Cryo-sleep for 9 years then awake as a 20 year Woman?
So again Ripley being on the Covenant would seem unlikely.
So Ripley would have to be part of a already set up colony on Origae-6 but the Alien Cannon has her born on the Olympia Colony on Luna in the year 2092
Maybe after her Birth she moved with her Parents to Origae-6 but this would be surely a 7 year + journey unless other earlier missions could travel faster than the Covenant?
If they are the same kind of speeds, then Ripley would have to be at least 7-9 years old by the time she arrives on Origae-6 and then we come to the how much does someone AGE in Cryo-sleep Question, or does the ship she is on not use Cryo-sleep?
So for me again, a lot of Problems arrive with Ripley being shown to us as being on Origae-6
so maybe she is part of a latter Mission thats incoming?
Again we have to look at the Time Frame... Ripley has to go from being Born and Growing up which she would be about 12 at the time of Alien Covenant.. to then within the next 17-18 years be introduced in the Prequels... and go through what ever Training/School and Employment to become Warrant Officer on the Nostromo all within say 16 years (take into account the Nostromo Mission time).
So which ever way we look at it, bringing Ripley back has problems... especially younger one, and so any young Ripley would have to be as a Young Woman and not Girl and so they would have to get a very good Look-a-like.... or use CGI overlay which can be flawed and expensive.
Considering the lack of faith FOX have in the Franchise ($97M AC Budget) i cant see them doing a Solid CGI Ripley without it having a massive impact on the rest of any budget.
The only Logical Answer to how she comes back is thus if they show us the Nostromo Mission or just prior, but this would not be connected to the events of the Alien movie. Not as far as the Organism etc. Unless its to show case the event when ASH comes aboard the Nostromo..
But then they have to De-Age or CGI the rest of the crew.
SO I FAIL TO SEE HOW... they can bring Ripley back into it prior to Alien.

Thanks everyone for agreeing with me. The old man has lost his way with the story, and is now just trying to scrape together links to make it all connect because his prequel wasn't well received. SO now, we HAVE to have these movies have a nod to Ripley....because that's all anyone(?) cares about now.
I did not hear Ridley "hint" at anything. The interviewer suggested it. All I heard Rid say is that may be feasable but they were a few films away from even considering it. The other time this was brought up it was also the interviewer suggesting it. Rid replied to him "You could do that", not that they were.
Also, this interview is not new. It was done a few months ago during the press junket. Ridley and Fassbinder are each off doing their next movies now.
Well RS has in another interview suggested they could bring Ripley back and De-Age her, so i would think this is something they was considering.
I dont think if we asked RS a few years ago that he would have gone for a set of prequels before 2122 the year Alien is set in.. i dont think back then he would have considered it.
I do think FOX would certainly be considering it, if they feel a Ripley Connection will boost the potential Sales and Box Office of the Prequels.
I would not rule them out of considering some clues to Ripley sooner rather than latter if they are concerned another Alien movie about that Mad Robot is not what is going to please fans.
I think RS however is a big fan of the David Character and how he is not Center Stage, but i can see how some fans are not so keen on this and some fans, simply are at loss to why there is not Connections to Ripley or the Queen.
I dont know how they would pull off a Ripley for the exact reasons i gave before, and this is the Time Restraints, the only way this would work is if some of the companies ships can travel to Origae-6 much faster and also have no need for Cryo-sleep.
Myself i would be pleased that Ripleys Story ended in Alien 3, but i think they could touch upon her in Novels but i was never a fan of Novels that deal with her interacting with the Xenomorph away from the Movies.. i would never consider these Canon.
But Canon can be a personal choice.

"Well RS has in another interview suggested they could bring Ripley back and De-Age her, so i would think this is something they was considering"
That was the other interview I referred to. The interviewer suggested it. Not Ridley.
Ridley did say this back in 2015, before the change in direction that became Covenant.
"I’ve even got connections with Ripley [in Paradise Lost], but I’m not telling you what.”
That’s crappy, the lack of Ripley wasn’t the problem with Alien Covenant. Not having Ripley was sort of refreshing as far as AC is concerned. She has been in so many Alien movie so she should be done. Get some new characters that are interesting enough and go from there. In a nutshell: it seems to me that they are drawing the wrong conclusions why AC didn’t do that well.
