MemberFacehuggerJul-07-2017 3:51 PMAs we see in the crossing, David's drawing was very simple compared to his later works. Did he improve his skills by practicing or did Shaw helped him in a way? Just thought this was meant to mean something.
Is there an agenda the mods are not telling us about? ;)

MemberDeaconJul-07-2017 3:53 PMHe also did a good job of sewing Shaw back together leaving no Traces of Scars ;)

AdminPraetorianJul-07-2017 4:01 PMI actually noticed that just recently too. I suppose it's meant to show he can evolve and create just like humans do, he can hone his skills instead of it being something he was programmed to do him perfectly to begin with. It's pretty creepy when you think about it considering the experiments he ended up doing.

MemberDeaconJul-07-2017 5:11 PMIndeed i think thats interesting... and would fit with how he can Evolve... i would assumed a Android could Draw really well.. but i suppose if David has never done so before..
But i would assume if David is the same Robot from the Prologue or has the memories and experiences of this David 1 and other Prototypes after... That at some point he would have taken up Painting various kinds of Art.
And so its likely this drawing was just a quick doodle... what David could rustle up within seconds to surprise Shaw.
The other Images are maybe just concept work for the movie that RS felt would be Cool to add into the back ground and we are not supposed to look at them in detail and study them.
But as we have seen them... they do not add up to what we see happened to Shaw.. but we need to remember we only had a quick view... just like the Egg in Prometheus.. it was easy to miss as its never fully shown.
So then it allows me to consider some explanations... maybe after David felt Rejected by Shaw, maybe either she was in hiding, or even after he had captured her and held her against her Will.
His mind started to have some pretty nasty thoughts about Shaw and so he took to drawing various images of Shaw in Fates that had befallen her in his twisted mind.
Bit like how some disturbed Children who have been affected and feel unloved or hurt by Parents, or Teachers or others.. will start to Draw Stick-Man Drawings of them being hurt or killed or hanged etc etc..
I think this is a good explanation to some of those Pictures David had drawn... rather than them being actual things he had done to her... it could be drawing of some negative thoughts he had about her due to how hurt he was from being Rejected.

MemberChestbursterJul-07-2017 5:26 PMI think David was intentionally drawing below his ability level in "The Crossing" to endear Shaw to him and to not alert her to how obsessed he was with her.

MemberOvomorphJul-08-2017 12:42 PMThere's a big difference between a 10 second casual sketch and a carefully constructed medical drawing though

MemberTrilobiteJul-08-2017 2:25 PMVivisectedEngineer On the other hand, if he made a quick detailed sketch and she thought what you suggested, he could have easily explained it away by explaining his photographic memory, super android skills etc and even say that it is a testament to her fine handiwork in restoring him.

MemberChestbursterJul-08-2017 8:44 PMGood point!, under (HFD) test of Machover, although it was never applicable in adult subjects can give us some conclusion, if the head was blurred indicates shyness and withdrawal. The person who omits the facial features indicates an aggressive delineation of their environment, and is evasive in character in relationships with those around them. If omitted facial features indicates that his relationships with people are poor and hostile.

While David is no doubt capable of it, an uncannily detailed sketch produced with an inhuman speed could be very unnerving. Yes, he most certainly could explain it away, but he is smart enough to not put himself into a position where he would have to.
It sort of falls within his knowledge of the fact "...you people are more comfortable interacting with your own kind".
A drawing from someone who is not a skilled artist shows effort and reveals vulnerability.
I feel that David's intentions were calculated in this matter.
