Interesting.

There seems to be a big time discrepancy between Prometheus and the drawings shown above.

On LV-223 the scientists dated the dead engineers with the deadly cargo to be 2.000 years old but on the drawings they seem to have visited us till the first millenia (1000 AD).

So we have two possibilities what could have pissed the Engieers of to wipe of humanity:

1)

2k years ago:

(AD 0 +- 30 years): Engineer was Jesus ( which is a  far stretch and unrealistic considering the difference in body size)

/ Roman empire begins slowly to go down the drain (maybe) /Traditional egypt empire is long gone by this time period (it started 500-600 years BC with invasions from the persians)

2) AD 1000

Begin of the medieval time period.

In this time humanity lost much of it's former knowledge,

slavery was even more practiced, inquisition,plague

Not sure which is more canon the book or the 2012 film Prometheus regarding the timelines.

@Ingeniero: If the petroglyphs at Val Camonica included a space jockey, that would suggest the humans they visited had seen the interior of one of the Juggernaut ships.

Nathan Adler, I hadn't noticed that years ago. I passed over the notes then that showed the cave drawings were on Earth that depicted the Engineer tech. Yes, very impressive.

Whoever drew on the cave walls in Val Comonica had seen Engineer tech.

Ridley Scott has mentioned many times that the Engineer story goes back millennia...so I started looking at Dr. Shaw's notes from her and Dr. Holloway's studies across Earth.

Very good points Gralen regarding the timeline on LV-223 and Earth. Yes, the Chaco Canyon notes cite 1000 AD but the other notes go very far back as far as the Engineers visiting Earth.

Everything we have seen in the movies regarding the Engineers has shown that they are a very old race of arrogant humanoids.

I also like the exchange in between Peter Weyland and Dr. Holloway in the Alien: Engineers script, see below.

Thinking about all the effort they put in creating all this viral campaign for "Prometheus", it makes you all the more sore for the easy, lazy, pretentious bait and switch approach they took in Covenant.

I'm still holding on for another movie to go along with the novelization released in September 2017 joylitt.

They did put so much into the viral material for Alien: Covenant and some of it wasn't even shown at all in the movie.

Why wouldn't Ridley Scott film some of this from below from the novelization coming out in September 2017?
