As you know, Steve Burg is one of the many concept artists who worked on Alien Covenant. Now let’s revisit his ’work done for Prometheus in the early days, when it was called Untitled Alien Prequel.’
In early versions of the script, Shaw and Holloway discover alien artifacts not on Earth, but elsewhere in the solar system.
Shaw pilots the excavator:
Discovery of alien hieroglyphics:
In early versions of the script, Weyland's headquarters was an immense orbital ring:
Weyland's headquarters eventually migrated to the surface of Mars:
Far out, these are too good not to use!! I could see a great scenario where these could be re-worked for Awakening.
Nice to post these old concept works, indeed there was a lot of interesting concepts and ideas for the Alien Prequel that evolved to Prometheus.
I wonder if we will see some of these influence in future movies, i certainly think they would fit with the Story of the Alien Covenant Prequel book

Ring station perfect idea. River in middle, farm fields all around and building platforms.
IRaptus - Yes, you're right.
The first Mars surface image was used in Prometheus, you can see it as the background during Weyland's speech (in the briefing scene).
Ati I re-watched Prometheus last night. For the first time I noticed some of the bottom few images (above) of the red earth planet and dome structures were in the background of Weyland's speech. Cool.
IRaptus - Exactly, you can see the terraformed Mars in the background, Weyland was on Mars when he recorded his speech.
