What is the deal with androids and hoodies

One fashion statement that bugged me in Prometheus was the use of flip flops. I wish they got Tom Ford as a wardrobe consultant because he hates them. In Prometheus, the totally superfluous use of hoodies was close of bugging me (not as much as the flip flops though). Luke Scott made the artificial character of his movie "Morgan" wear one almost at all times, and in Prometheus you can see Walter wearing one, as well as Daniels, Faris (who also wears flip flops) and last but not least, David. What do you think the use of hoodies mean, is it just a quirk or it has a deeper meaning? And do you think this is Luke's idea?

Generally, hoodies just seem to add to the bad ass element. They add some concealment while giving a bit of the character's face.

hoodie doesn't equal 'badass' it equals 'wannabe thug-culture tough guy' who's just begging to run into someone genuinely scary. ;)

As for the 'concealment' bit, I concede that it does lend to 'atmosphere' and character 'ominousness' in movies.

I still HATE hoodies though....only one I ever saw that I liked it was made to carry kittiehz. :)

flip-flops equal 'I cannot dress myself without adult supervision'.

I don't know what the hoodie means for Morgan, because the character just wears it from the beginning and with no explanation. Maybe because she is a teenager and as such she is insecure? Or because she wishes to conceal the fact that she is not as expressive as a human being? In the case of Walter, it is probably imitation. He sees Daniels wear it, so he wears it as well. Also I noticed nobody in the crew bullies Walter by telling him "you don't need to use that"

If I ever buy a hoodie, that's the one. :)

As for no one bullying Walter, a snippy little jerk like Holloway likely would've gotten a 'talking to' by Tennesee, I doubt the crew of Covenant would've put up with him bullying an AI they all rely on and seem fairly close to.

Blackwinter-witch Right,in little things like that the movie was relying too much in the assumption that you watched Prometheus.

Still, they could have done the same thing with proper use of Lighting and shadow with some CO2 mist...
I see the hoodies in ALIEN: Covenant and I think ' gangstas in space'.

Blackwinter-witch flip-flops equal 'I cannot dress myself without adult supervision'.

In Australia Thongs or "Flip-flops" as you call them are almost formal footwear lol.

I actually didn't notice they were wearing them at all hahaha

Ok, fair enough. In Australia, yeah given the climate (HOT enough to kill me in an afternoon) they make sense and if that many folks wear them...it's Cultural. I can accept that.

BUT...on a starship, in a movie where things are supposed to look 'cool' and eye-catching....they're just totally:

For the record stories of our dangerous critters is a tad overblown, its not that bad. Usually the biggest worry is aggressive brown snakes if you're in a rural area, or a few species of octopus and jellyfish if you're on the coast..  Spiders aren't really a big deal.

Concealment i think is maybe key... who knows?

Maybe RS and FOX dont think that far ahead, as there are a number of oversights... but i was wondering if concealment is the reason so when they are releasing the Trailers, and how they adjust the lighting for the Trailers we would be led to wonder is that Walter in the Egg Cave etc
