We know from interviews there's more than one type of Humanity out there...4 or 5 Versions in fact.

We also know Engineers are almost absolutely identical to Homo Sapiens in their DNA.

Thus, reasonably and logically, we can say that Engineers are one Type of Humanity and us (Homo-Sapiens) are another. It's concievable that the carbonized corpses found planetside in ALIEN: Covenant are a third Type of Humanity.

The Questions: What are the other Types like? Where are they? What are they doing? What are their plans? Did they attack the Engineer facility of LV-223?

I had never heard of this 72 hour lifespan before either. Wow that's even more creepy and Alien!!

Imagine if Ripley had of escaped without detonating the Nostromo, and the alien found some other place besides the Narcissus to presumably die.

Eventually the Nostromo would've been found totally deserted with only a dead alien husk and a bunch of bodies strung to a wall in a dark room turning, or already turned into eggs. Eerie as hell! Honestly that be more terrifying than coming on board and finding only a Queen running around, at least its something alive and makes sense.

The crew that find this then end up as the next batch of hosts, and the cycle continues.

SPOILER WARNING:

David's role in Alien: Covenant

Hmmmm....

THIS really allows me some freedom, and Validates my Literary work thus far. (Hop up and down, clap paws, squeal with glee!!) :D

It also supports a Conversation/Confrontation between a main character and David that I wanted to do but wasn't sure if there was a Base for...and now, more of a Base than I could have ever dreamed to hope for.

The Convo/Confrontation between them is about Humanity, between two Non-Human characters.

Ponderings...

Who planted the wheat on 'Paradise'? Well, as Engineers are almost exactly like us in DNA, then it's quite reasonable to assume they have such crops and perhaps wheat on Earth as well as on Paradise, comes from the God-Creators, who gave it to their various Versions of Humanity as a primary food crop?

"I'll never forgive Cameron for shamelessly lifting from the novel Starship Troopers to base his 'treatment' of the ALIENverse on...the creatures went from being awesome, scary, nightmare-inducing creations to badly-lit, poorly-done spandex suits in a shoot'em up flick. Cameron has NO sense or grasp of the ALIENverse at all. His LAME and pedestrian idea of a 'queen'...well, that turned the Creatures into angry-slobbery-space-ants, random targets and something of a joke for Raid commercials."

Great debate topic Blackwinter-witch. Yes, I was excited the first time I saw Aliens with the action but over time I've got to where I noticed the deviation from Ridley Scott on concepts. Other directors in the franchise only amplified this. What a gift to have Ridley Scott concentrating on Alien now.

@BWW

To add to this multiple-humans idea, I bet LV-426 was inhabited once by another Humanity.

And wheat may just be common to any Earth-like planet

As far as the Wheat goes i guess it depends where Civilization as far as Humanoids Originated from, If we consider the Covenant Crew was off to Terraform Worlds they would surely be bringing with them Crops from Earth.

And so if the Engineers Predate Mankind are they Set Up Shop on other worlds with the intention of evolving the World to support Humanoids, it would be logical they would take Crops to grow on these Worlds too.

And so Wheat on Earth may have originated from Paradise.

Thank-you for commenting!

Yeah, the ALIENverse really hard-drifted away from what it is with ALIENS and the rest of the films afterwards. Cameron, well, he might be a 'Name' but treats franchises that are not his own with contempt and sloppiness. He's also an absolute Pr**k, more so than a facehugger. Like you I am SO happy that R. Scott is back on the helm of the franchise. :)

Just to say, my works, which re-address what happened with the colony on LV-426, throw The Finger to Cameron. I am re-addressing 'ALIENS' as-per the R. Scott method and 'feel' of the franchise. If such gets listed as Canonical, it will fix a lot of damage the franchise has suffered, eliminate Cameron's nonsense, and open more story-doors.

LV-426 is really unlikely as a colony world of the past. If such were so, there'd be evidence of structures and some kind of biosphere, however it's just a wind-scoured rock with a reducing atmosphere...but, who knows what might lie beneath the surface.

Wheat is pretty specific, the odds of it randomly developing on it's own on some habitable planet are absolutely astronomical.

One thing that no one mentions in connection to the direction the ALIENverse is going is 'What about Transhumanism?'.

Consider that we are making steady, dedicated progress in cybernetics, the next generation of prosthetic limb replacements is nothing less than amazing, and as technology and science marches on, the eye of Humanity will turn towards Enhancement.

Consider that from the view of The Engineers. This upstart species has a mastery of technological development like nothing else, and is seeking to rebuild itself in it's own image.

A species intent on becoming it's own 'god'.

The technology seen regarding Synthetics in the movies, it wouldn't take much to make selected elements of that tech integratable into the Human body:

Artificial muscles that do not tire, with microscopic built-in repair systems so that damage is repaired faster than a Human could heal.
Integrated computer systems to enhance and serve the living brain, how much better would say Einstein have been if he'd had Perfect memory and the equivalent of a CadCam system as well as a theoretical modelling system in his head?

Ozymandias Awakens...

Personally I like the bleak godlessness of Alien 3. The mystery of why any god/creator/ancient race would allow this violent, unmerciful survivor of a species to exist adds to the hopelessness of ever believing it can be defeated. The prisoners of Fury 161 looked to God for salvation for their past sins, but got a Xeno instead."

Interesting as I never viewed Alien3 in that light. Rather it was the opposite. The worst sinners, long forgotten and cared about,  up against impossible odds played a direct hand in the saving of humanity. The Christian life is a life, at times, of extreme sacrifice.

I loved Dillons line of: "Well, we've got a lot of faith here. Enough even for you." That faith is what Ripley needs in her darkest hour as she takes her own life. The inmates on Fury 161 helped her get there.

Also, falling, arms outstretched into the furnace...I think the imagery is clear.

Good points, and what I enjoy about A 3 is the dialogue, the bare-level of habitable standards.

You make a good point about Christianity, I must say, also about Ripley.

For myself and my works, I prefer to leave metaphysics out of things. My brain just doesn't work that way, so I leave it to others with a better ability to grasp such.

When I address the concepts of Creators and Created, it has nothing to do with metaphysics, but can include spirituality, however there's other views about Creation I like to explore that many people never consider.

BBW:

My mind always works that way LOL! There are multiple reasons for it that I can chat about another time.

You, me and others on here clearly enjoy the idea of the Engineers/ Space Jockey beings and there part in the story. We can only hope Scott brings them back in a shining way. I know what I would like to see on screen, but I doubt I'll get it.

I know you are a aspiring writer and I meant to tell you in another thread that I have a deep respect for anybody that tries to write. It is a very, very hard art form to pull off. I myself have tried and I had to come to the realization I'm nt very good at it LOL! Then I read two of my favorite authors, Flannery O'Conner and Cormac McCarthy and there mastery of the English language is stunning to say the least. All I can say to you is keep writing and don't be afraid to explore ANY idea in your stories.

Back to Alien3 for a sec; my wife, who doesn't like the Alien films but gets tortured by me by proxy. Upon watching the assembly cut commented about the overt Christian themes in the film. I didn't think she was paying attention to it at all LOL!

Interesting stuff for sure.

I can relate. :) My mind, while not particularly oriented to metaphysical ponderings does tend to go off and explore all manner of other avenues like a Labrador puppy at an off-leash dog park. :)
Charring about metaphysics, another time, sure, and I'll do my best to hold up my end of the chat. :)

Writing, yeah it is NOT easy...it's like...trying to get a swarm of snakes to cooperate and march in-line. :) Thank-you very much for your encouragement!! I will continue, rest assured!! I consider this point in my career the 'practice/warm-up' time, as it takes time and effort to build up skill, knowledge and experience to be able to write well and keep a story organized relative to itself.
These days, for me it's about learning and entertaining me fellow fans as I do so. :)
Also, don't sell yourself short. If you have the Drive, all else can be learned. ;)

Engineers and Space Jockey, I agree with you completely, and also like you I suspect we will not see what we all hope for realized.
However, I have my own ideas about such, and am developing them to be explored in my works, and I hope that fans like you and myself will find what they seek in such. Granted, it won't be Canon, but I am caring less about Canon now and more about making sure my works stay true to the Essence of the ALIENverse.

yeah, there's all kinds of Quiet fans of ALIEN around. In contrast to your wife, I have some friends who totally missed the Christian themes in A3, because they were absolutely in love with the 'feel' and tone of the setting, the quasi-post-apocalypse feel held them quite solidly. I also know others who applauded the Christian themes as if they hadn't been in there, they'd have left a pretty big gap that people would notice, but have no idea why they sensed the gap.

For me, one of the directions in my works is of course about the Chimerans. They are in a very unusual spot when you consider it.
1; They KNOW who and why they were created.
2; There's all manner of assorted religious efforts to win them over to one religion or another, as they are seen as 'innocents'.
3; They have the Questions of:
A; Who are we as a people?
B; How will we define ourselves as a people?
C; What manner of culture will be make for ourselves?
D; Will our creator-species truly leave us alone to pursue our own destiny on our own terms?
E; If someone created Humanity, then how will they perceive us?
