Just saw this article and had to share. Not much in here, except a little tid bit from Ridley about the Xeno and the Engineers.
Could be bait to throw us all off...or a little truth?
its very interesting which leads me to believe that there is another race of aliens that will be introduced in the story line.IMO
There is definitely more than meets the eye here. Another superior race to the current Engineers we know? Very possible!
The superior race should be the space jockey...I still cannot except the engineers are same species...I believe the engineers to be its own race who encountered the space jockey race and stole their technology, got interested in the xenomorphs the space jockeys created and experimented their selves only it all went wrong
I think most hardcore fans would like nothing more than the Jockey to be at the top of the food chain and the Engineers to just mimic their work. However hasn't it already been confirmed the Jock is ' just an Engineer '
Or does this hint at a race higher than both?
Red Herrings everywhere....
I want the Space Jockey and the original Derelict to be part of this superior race and engineers only mimicking them. Their tech, culture and motifs being incomprehensible to us and utterly alien. And most of all, with them, bring back the nightmarish gigereqsque and grotesque feel to it.
I know there's another religious implications thread, but I feel like this applies here.
So if there's another race, higher than the Engineers, if we are to apply this to a biblical scale it would be like this:
God > The Nephilim (Higher Race) > Engineers/Humanity
In Prometheus, Shaw says they are us because our DNA matches exactly. We are just decedents then by that logic. So in essence, theology can still exist with the science backdrop in these movies moving forward.
"Alien: Covenant will be released in the UK and the US on 12 May 2017."
Is that true?!?
Nothing the God of biomechanics wouldn't let you in heaven for
Well we need to think carefully about those comments and i the set report interview was taking when they could not 100% hear Ridley Scott clearly and so maybe there is some loss of translation...
"this thing designed to make human beings."
Did it mean to say designed to kill human beings?
If we are to answer the questions, we have to consider what Prometheus showed us...
The movie was set to show us that the Engineers played a role in the creation of Mankind, it maybe started with the seeding of the Engineers DNA via the Sacrificial Scene, but these Engineers came back over and over to evolve life and manipulate life on Earth until Mankind was the Evolution.
The movie set up that these Engineers had also created that horrid Bio-Weapon on LV-223 and those experiments and it was intended to be used on Mankind.
Ridley re-enforced the knowledge that the Space Jockey was a Engineer (or related) and that his Ship was a Biological Warfare Cargo Ship or even a Bomber.
And the Xenomorph was Engineered as a Weapon.
There was a Question from Shaw... she wanted to know WHO created the Engineers.. if such a thing applies. But Ridley Scott backed this up by saying he Did-Not want to meet God in the first movie and this in part is why the Elders Scene was removed and so the Engineers both LV-223 and Sacrificial are not at the Top of the Chain of Hierarchy
The purpose for Alien Covenant when Ridley Scott was promoting it after the official announcement November 2015 was to go to the Homeworld of the Engineers, and to find out who and why anyone would make such a Horrific Organism and Biology and we would find out this.. or at least start too
After shooting he further added (when Synopsis was announced) that the Covenant Crew would be arriving at Paradise where there is a Evolving Organism that THEY (Engineers) Created and Ridley was proposing who would create such a awful thing, it felt like a Weapon and Bio-Mechanical and Alien Covenant would start to answer this...
So the new comments from Ridley are interesting... is it a contradiction to what he said before? all along?
Or is he suggesting the beings who are represented by the Big Head Statues in Alien Covenant in the Cathedral who are superior beings, wise men and 10 apostles (Messengers or Emissaries of a higher race or the heads of the Engineers Estate) and the beings thus who at very least are the heads of those Engineers (or related beings) on Paradise as far as Hiearchy, who have their image decorated in that Hall as a place of Worship to these beings and the Knowledge they had and brought.
Ridley is hinting these Guys (who the Head Statues represented) Must not have either... (apply to more than one)
1) Not been the creators of the Sacrificial Goo, and it was stolen or mis-used by those beings but never created or owned by them.
2) Did not create the Biological Warfare in those Urns.
3) Did not directly evolve or experiment with anything that leads directly to the Xenomorph (this does not mean they could not have created 1+2)
4) The Xenomorph is either Ancient or there is a Ancient Origin that the Engineers or those heads of state in their Civilization did not play any role in. So something predated the Xeno evolution not created by the Engineers in anyway.

Good post Hicks/Hudson.
"So if there's another race, higher than the Engineers, if we are to apply this to a biblical scale it would be like this:

I thought that it was Watcher Angels that attacked the Engineers of LV-223. I put "first estate" in the title opposed to the edge of Heaven.
From Dr. Shaw's notes, you can equate the theorized Nephilim pyramid and stone structure builders (Engineers) to Earth's archeological sites. BigDave covered this connection in the cloak analysis from Chris in the comments.
Did angels who did not follow fallen rebellious angels (such as Mammon, Beelzebub, Belial, and Moloch) keep their first estate (Heaven) and attack the descendants (Engineers) on LV-223 when they (Engineers) threatened to destroy Earth?
