This is just another theory I have, but thought it could really happen. Before I go into it I wanted to first say I can't figure out why I can't upload a profile picture lol. I use my phone to do all this stuff so that might be it, but just wanted to ask if anyone knew what I was doing wrong. Anyway I came up with this theory after watching the new trailer. At one point you see David, or it could be Walter I guess on the monitor as a door is slammed shut. Daniels and Tennessee are also running around trying to figure out where the Alien is. I think David is trying to trap them in with the proto/Xeno/neo whatever it is. It makes sense to me because I think he definitely goes bad and wants to profect and protect the alien. He has to get rid of the humans to do this and I believe he basically has succeeded picking them off one by one but by then end is still trying to get rid of these two. It's just a theory but I think it could really happen given everything we know about this movie. If you watch the new trailer again you can kind of see what I'm saying. Especially the scenes of the alien jumping around and Daniels/Tennessee trying to get through those doors that are flashing red. Usually when red lights are flashing it means things are getting serious. Ergo Evil android is causing chaos to kill off some humans while protecting the company's precious weapon. It definitely matches up with the previous movies themes.

I think the red around the door indicates that it is locked from that side.

I still think David is trying to bring the alien to the covenant main ship, with the sleeping 5000 passengers

Either that, or he's trying to bring the passengers back to the planet to be implanted.

He's obviously fascinated with the black goo and it's power

I agree with both comments. The red lights definitely indicate that the door is closing because of an emergency and I think Davids main goal is to get the alien back to earth somehow. Infecting the other sleeping people would be a great way of doing it too.
