MemberOvomorphJan-22-2017 12:42 PMI don't mean to sound like I'm not waiting on the edge of my seat for this new film, but I don't feel convinced by the concept of head bursters and back bursters; the chest bursting from the original films worked because it shocked the audience but also it made evolutionary sense that it would kill the host and allow them to escape in an energy efficient fashion. This meant it wouldn't be too drained and would have a food supply.
Climbing up a hosts throat would be a large expenditure of energy and destroying the head would reduce potential food (especially brain which would be very rich and easy to eat).
Plus both the back and head burst would involve going through very large and strengthened bone (the spine and the skull), the chest makes sense because the ribs are easy to separate without the stress of necessarily breaking them.
Does anyone else have the same sort of feeling that they stopped thinking in the same details that they used to and they're just trying to force the feelings that people had long ago by doing the same thing with a slight variation?

MemberPraetorianJan-22-2017 6:31 PMCan't say I've thought about that.I gotta say that's some impressive research. One thing to consider is that these are the neomorphs and already seem very different than the xenomorph. Not only are there births more violent, but so is there growth rate. There conception is also different seemingly being born from spores not facehuggers, making them a completely different beast.

MemberTrilobiteJan-22-2017 8:51 PMI think they would exit by the easiest means possible. If it was in the esophagus, it might just follow that path if it could fit. If it was in the torso, it might be easier to come out from the abdominal region. Lots of organs and soft tissue but no bones.

MemberDeaconJan-22-2017 11:29 PMI would assume the Parasite released by the Spores once it enters a Host, it will start to take on DNA/Genetic Traits and grow and after a short period of entry it will settle down and attach to Host and so depending where the Spore Enters would determine where it would then Gestate.
I think these scenes could be potentially brutal depending how detailed they are shown.

MemberFacehuggerJan-23-2017 8:44 AMIt's also important to mention the medical fact that ribs are weakest where they attach to the spine. It seems like Xenos have a defined position like human fetuses eventually turn head down, but Neos seem like they are always "breach".

MemberOvomorphJan-23-2017 12:35 PMYeah, I get the point about them being strong and I hope you're right BigDave, the spore concept does look really interesting and to have them all form in different ways would be pretty cool :)

MemberPraetorianJan-23-2017 1:08 PMfinlay regarding the headburster the only thing im concerned about is that maybe they've told us too much about it.If this is the scene Ridley says is going to top the original chestburster than i think they've shown there hand too soon.Doesn't mean it won't be great to watch though.

MemberPraetorianJan-23-2017 2:15 PMIt should be pretty gruesome. Wish I didn't know about it though!
