Ripley being born from Daniels

I know this has been covered in threads but don't recall one specific to this issue:

If Ripley is born from Daniels that would make it seem like this was her purpose or destiny in the Alien movies instead of just being a regular person using her own strengths and wits to achieve what she did. I think if a baby is born in this or the next movie named Ripley, it would be very cheesy. I would like to hear opinions.

Judging from the films timeline,Ripley should already be born so i don't really think we'll witness her birth in a future film(i think that would be a little to Star Wars in my opinion).I agree it would be pretty cheesy. It was a minor problem i had with Isolation, another Ripley dealing with the xenomorph.

I believe from what I've read,Ripley was born in 2093,the year Prometheus took place.

Ripley was born in 2092 and yeah it sounds a bit cheesy to have Daniels as her mother.  Mind you I thought the premise for Isolation was cheesy too and the finished game proved me wrong.

It is good to know that a lot of fans pay attention to time lines. Personally, I don't since many movies I have seen seem to use arbitrary years way beyond what we would ever witness. I have treated the Alien series the same way.

The same went for Isolation but I made an exception in that case since Amanda was mentioned in Aliens and it seemed like a plausible side story and I paid a bit more attention to years since Creative Assembly seemed to have done a lot of homework and research for that game.

Don't get me wrong i love Isolation(just see my cheesy video game forum),but when i first heard about it kind of thought it was a little cheesy but it turned out amazing anyways like you guys said.

Cheesy.. Hell Yeah..

$$$$$$ making connection... maybe...

When i was working on my own Fan-made P2 draft at this time Miss Weaver said she would like to be part of a future movie....  then rumors started about what if she  would appear in a sequel.....  eventually Blomkamp then released his work.. and concept... for Alien 5 so Weaver was maybe on about that.

But i did a WHAT IF.... way to bring her into a Prometheus sequel that would connect Ripley and Shaw... yes Cheesy lol

My route was a Flash Back Dream of Shaw... at her Grandmothers Funeral.... who would be a Ellen Shaw the grandmother of Shaw and Shaw's cousin...  This scene would tease that Shaws Cousin was pregnant and her partner called away for longer duty in the Marines... and that she was going to name her child after their Grandmother....

LOL.... i felt it was a interesting way to tie them together, and Ripley to the Franchise.... without showing a Ripley at all...

Ridley Scott did mention which was a worry at around the time of Alien Covenant announcement that the Franchise was about Ripely..... which then lead to people thinking we are gonna get a connection and when the Waterston will be Ripleys mother rumors started.

I hope and think they mean in a Character Perspective.. not a direct relation...

Because well at the time of AC... Ripley would be about same age as Newt in Aliens....  this however is something they could touch upon... if a Sequel follows on with the Covenant Ship... and then they can connect the whole Newt too Ripley Character Arc....

I think its a bit to on the nose... and would hate to see it... but if FOX think  going a Ripley connection makes $$$$$$

And Ripley had a similar introduction as Newt (but Ripley somehow forgets it)  then they go with Alien 5 as Newt (who would now likely be adopted by Ripley) making the same journey to become the new Ripley Character for a Alien 6

Then to tie it all in as above is something they could do, to make this more of a Star Wars Story.....  Anakin =>  Luke and Leigh to Rey and Ben etc

@ BigDave-

I agree. Tying those relations together would give a whole new (unwelcome imo) vibe to the series. Destiny and fate as opposed to regular people at the wrong place at the worst time and getting through it. It might be ok for Star Wars but not for Alien.

Exactly...

But we need to pay attention... when Ridley did mention the Alien Franchise was about Ripley not long ago... last year sometime... and also when talking about a new set of Prequels he brought up the Star Wars Franchise..

To me this means FOX are going to Milk the Franchise... There are 7 SW movies.. that will at least end in 9 (EP1-9) we have seen a Rogue One.. which is a side movie.. and Canon... we are getting at least a Han Solo and Obi Wan movies.

Alien Franchise we have Alien, Aliens (Alien 3 and Alien R) then we have (Prometheus) and then Alien Covenant and TWO more sequels to AC.... then we have potentially Alien 5.

My fear is... they are indeed doing a Star Wars...

If Alien 3 and Alien R are wrote off somehow...

Then we have Ripley Saga.... Trilogy...

Alien, Aliens and Alien 5

Then we have Prometheus as a Prologue. and Fork in the Road...

Where we then get Alien Covenant and its TWO sequels that may be about Daniels....  if they choose to show her as Ripleys mother... it brings Ripley into the Franchise... just as the Blood Line of Star Wars... Skywalkers...

Ripley would be 12 years or abouts in Alien Covenant.. we know they will leave on the Covenant and it still has Colonists in Cryo-sleep... does Ridley leave that ship for the next movie or follow it?

The sequel could then show Ripley being brought out of Cryo-sleep.... as a Young kid.....   they could use this as a back ground story... where Ripley then forgets about the events and goes on to lead a normal life after.... but the scars are deep within..... hence her Dreams about the Xeno.

Alien 5 could then go the route of passing the Torch to Newt.... a older Newt.. and you can bet if Alien 5 makes $$$$$$ than a Alien 6 with Newt as the new Ripley would carry on....   Newt being the Alien Franchises Rey from Star Wars EP7.

Not saying this would happen... but its something i do fear FOX will go and do.

My thoughts exactly.I've previously discussed my fears of Alien becoming a "cinematic universe".

I would dislike it if they made Daniels out to be Ripley's mom, the chances of their family line being involved with the aliens through generations just destroys immersion in the narrative they are presenting.

I have a feeling that Callie Hernandez might be the Ripley connection.  She looks just like Sigourney Weaver in her 20s

Ridley Scott's not going to be so obvious as to make Daniels Ripley's actual mother.  But I do think he's gonna incorporate her somehow.  I bet Callie Hernandez gets pregnant from the shower scene & gets killed off, then Daniels ends up taking the baby at the end of the film.

Below is a young Sigourney & Callie H.  See the similarities

I do get that this all takes place in space and there r a limited number of people out there. but I just don't know if I like something that really has the potential to so easily messed up and become cheesy. why can we just have individual characters who have no connection to each other? I think easier to do and possibly safer on screen

do we know the covenants point of origin?

I really hope that is not the case, just because it is connected to the Alien franchise doesn’t mean that it has got to have an explicit connection to Ripley. Three movies with Ripley is enough (Resurrection wasn’t very good).

I don’t care that much about time-lines in movies a lot of the times. I guess that I am too lazy.

To me the alien franchise is about more than one person. I would like to think about it as having more to do with death, disease, greed, and how we react to that.

The seeds of ancestral connection have been sown in the novels already. James A. Moore said Fox insisted that he include it in Sea of Sorrows.

Safe? Of course he isn't safe, but he's good!
