MemberFacehuggerDec-31-2016 11:42 AMThe engineers breed us to be hosts for their Holy Hive. We even seem to be inexplicably drawn to the eggs. We're programmed by our experience on earth that harmless, vulnerable or useful things come out of eggs. They are a source of sustenance and wonder for us.
It also stands to reason that when the Engineers sent a ship full of eggs to a planet ready for innoculation, they expect to be welcomed and worshipped (cave paintings). No worries about delivery, The juggernauts just offload the eggs. The eggs seem to be capable of protecting their contents for a short fall. Our innate curiosity and affinity toward eggs does the rest. The Marines in Aliens KNEW what the eggs did and looked inside them anyway! Granted they were spent, but still.
If that's what Shaw and David discover, how do they react to that information?

MemberTrilobiteJan-02-2017 11:22 PMIt always bothered me that people stare at the eggs while they open and something squirming can be seen.
As far as the Marines, I was always interested when they asked if this was another bug hunt as if they did this before.........but I am straying into Cameron territory.

MemberChestbursterJan-03-2017 4:22 AMI took particular notice in the trailer of Crudup's demeanor when approaching the egg. It's almost an appearance of sexual anticipation. His mouth open yearning as he leans in. The sound of his breathing. It's quite disturbing

MemberFacehuggerJan-03-2017 5:48 AMI heard somewhere that humans give all the indicators of being domesticated animals. And I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that the characters in ALL of these films are inexplicably and dangerously drawn to the eggs. It's almost like they are programmed to get facehugged.

MemberTrilobiteJan-03-2017 10:59 PMI still think staring into hatching eggs that big is kind of stupid but suspension of belief is often required for some movies. It seems that human nature would dictate a fight or flight response and these people do neither.

MemberFacehuggerJan-04-2017 12:15 AM@dk I completely agree. That's why one possible explanation is in THAT universe humans are bred to be hosts for Xenos. Otherwise their behavior doesn't make sense. But even we are experientially programmed to believe that nothing can kill us the instant it hatches.

MemberChestbursterJan-04-2017 6:25 AM@Myrddin: We "humans" are "domesticated animals". To think otherwise is to fall to the "religions" of the world that use our "supreme destiny" as an excuse to rape, kill, murder, and destroy the world around us and to claim that we are 'above' the lowly "animal". BUT, we are animals. That is a scientific fact.

Let's keep it fun. I don't want religiously or politically inflammatory statements on my topics. It is an intelligent, thoughtful comment, but let's keep it polite. Discussing religion or its antithesis with relative strangers is something I consider rude.

MemberFacehuggerJan-04-2017 8:55 AMI didn't mention religion, just a speculation on a fictional world.
