The legless entity seen in the 'Ridleygrams' and maybe a somewhat feminine aspect in an extreme and insidious way is the feel for A:C I suspect.

Hi ZetaReticuli!

I wonder if Shaw will become a limbless type hybrid after David 8 has experimented on her? Perhaps she becomes the receptacle for the eggs? The birthing machine, that would certainly rival Cameron's Queen!

It is interesting that both Giger's Necronom IV creature and the Space Jockey lacked lower limbs and had that integrated look.

I would love to see something that weird and wonderful as part of the A C story. Beautiful, yet horrific, as H.R Giger intended!

Who knows, maybe Shaw will be the link of the xeno before and the xeno we know..

Hello Shasta and Lone - your thoughts on Shaw becoming integrated with the Alien entity are fascinating. I remember reading a rather grisly speculation on the Prometheus storyline that Dr. Shaw becomes the dead Space Jockey found in the original. I hope the plot involves a more leftfield and twisted aspect like that.

I am not sure if she become the Space Jockey as i think that event is in the past still.... but who knows where Alien Covenant would take us.

And the intentions was before to have the Alien be feminine and seems maybe this could be explored again.

Apparently, Shaw plays a pivotal role in Covenant, however her screen time is not that much. I suspect she is involved in David's creation of one of the Aliens. I doubt she becomes the Jockey, though...

Indeed Chris...

Shaw and David were the main characters from Prometheus.... now 10 years after Daniels and David are the main characters and so we need wonder why is Shaw not evolved.... yet she is cast to shoot some scenes....

Was she!!!

*So much of a boring Character? whos Questions are not important that the Alien Fans have no interest in?

*she had a busy schedule so she could not shoot much and they had re-write around her and so another movie she can get more time?  Maybe a 2nd movie cover her more.

*She made a Deal with the Devil in David and once his head was back on she was left to the whims of David and his Agenda.

I hope its not something lame like, she died from her wounds from Prometheus...or died in hypersleep.  or david keeps her in hypersleep.

Well we have to look at how would she be used... lets look at Shaw as a Character... While some felt she was boring here are some points.

*She was the main lead, the survivor.

*Its her intentions as far as going to where they (Engineers) came from that set up the whole premise for doing a sequel rather than going back home.

*She still has her faith, she may have found out the Engineers are not Gods, but she now asks.... who create them.

So lets see what we know from Prometheus ending.

*David and Shaw leave LV-223 in a Juggernaught

*David is in Two Halves.... without his help Shaw is going no place.  David would need or at least make Shaw think that she needs him back in one peace to be able to leave.

*Ridley said once David's head goes back on he can be dangerous but persuasive so indeed, Shaw puts him back together some what.

On to Davids Agenda...

If he really is going to be up to no good.... then he knows he has to basically incapacitate Shaw, maybe he could just kill her?  I mean can he be trusted to keep to his side of the bargain?...... and so if David has plans for her, or he wishes her out of the way... he would persuade her she has to go into Cryo-sleep  surely?

That way....

*She cant interfere with Davids plans, when they arrive at Paradise he is free to have a look around and leave her in the ship in Cory-Stasis...

*If she was not, and we assume the journey is not long and she is free to move around the ship, should they arrive then she would surely want to go and have a look and set foot on Paradise.

*She would not let David get up to no good, she would want to follow HER Agenda this time... with out the constraints that Vickers put on them in Prometheus.

So the movie was to set up to explore Shaw and David and they was supposed to meet some beings and get answers... prior to Changes..

So why is Shaw not in the movie much?

*Work Commitments for Rappace? I am sure if Ridley planned her to play a large role they would have waited for her to be more free... and her schedule anyway would have allowed for more time on set than she was.

*Plan to have her Die during the Journey? Why do that when there was a whole lot of dynamic to be played out... or are they not interested in seeing what dialog and interaction Shaw and David could have and indeed finding Engineers.

*Have her killed off not long after getting there, but dont show much only few hints.. but indeed no soon as they arrive or prior she is dead... again see above.

*Have her kept in Cryo-Sleep all the time until the Covenant arrive and awake/find her at the end.... i dont think they would go this route... as again she would not get her answers.

OR....

*Have her involved in something where either by interaction with some beings or via David finding out from David the Agenda and Intentions of the Engineers and then first hand show her... i.e if its then a Horrific Agenda.. where Humans are created and used for a Horrific Purpose which David then proceeds to use her for....

This could have some part in the creation of something....

But now in AC we arrive in the aftermath of such events... with maybe not many answers..

If Noomi's in this I hope they have her lose that AWFUL plummy-english accent. With a little luck, her part will be non-speaking. She would've been far better with her natural Swedish accented english in Prommy. "Janek, if you downt stop eet, thayre wount bee anee houme to gou beck too" lol

She's a great actress and very beautiful and she was feisty in Prometheus. But no-no, not good with English accents. Bad decision to have her speak like that.
