I'm just curious to what the experts here, not an insult, think of what Danny Mcbrides character fate will be? Live or die? And how he will probably die? Big character, important death scene.

Well, we know Danny McBride plays one of the pilots of the USCSS COVENANT in Alien: Covenant. Given that he's one of the pilots and the new plot synopsis mentions a daring escape, one can assume McBride likely survives a long time. He will likely stay on board the Covenant while the rest of the crew descend to the planet's surface. Of course we can assume Aliens make their way back onto the ship and Danny's character will likely bite the biscuit. But certainly not until the end of the film. That's my guess at least. If we didn't know he was playing a pilot, I'd have guessed he'd be the "Millburn" of Alien: Covenant and probably die off quickly. But him being a pilot changes things.

my bet is on, he dies. But fighting off aliens and like Chris said....towards the end.

I agree with Chris and Shasta cyclone.

Danny would most likely die, but at the end.

Obsession is a Power, not a Curse ;)

McBride has given a lot away well as far as his role and how long he survives.

Indeed the Harrowing Escape Official Addition to Synopsis means they try to leave.....  Wayne Haag said they land, and leave....

We see shots on the ship with Daniels and one released Giff of a explosion in what looks like the room at the end of that Corridor that Daniels was sitting in... were we saw evidence of a fire in the background.

This scene could be why the Ship on Set had in part blown up, or maybe a scene latter on during the Escape.

Ejogo and Waterstons Comments suggest being chased by Aliens and went even further when Waterston said she was in a Space Suit... considering Paradise is habitable and we was told its not a Space Suit movie like Prometheus.

To me suggests some do make it to a ship in a attempt to escape... a ship that gets compromised.... which brings us to McBride and his comments about having a Shot Gun and being chased around the ship by Aliens.

When we use this with his comments about how the Breakfast meetings on set, the Cast members at the table got smaller and smaller week by week.

I think we can confirm McBride makes it to the end of the movie and its a case of does he survive the HARROWING ESCAPE... or does he die.. and if so is it in a Noble way?

I can also suspect that the ships compromise is down to McBride killing a Alien on the ship.....

Not a clever move.... but these are Colonists.... they may not be many Scientific or Military types......

So they wont be 100% clued up as to shooting at them and realize the dangers..... now in Alien they did after they operated on the Face Hugger.... as Parker said.. "one hell of a defensive mechanism.... you dare kill it"

And so especially if Mcbride is on the ship a lot he would maybe be unaware of such things....  however... one shot does look like a Small Cockpit.... the other a Larger Bridge.

So chances are McBride Pilots a Shuttle or Similar at some point...

I think a Plot that involves like Alien Damage to the Ship that needs repairs could work.. otherwise when the Crew are stranded we have to ask why no rescue attempt..

Unless someone is preventing it.... and also likely the Horror takes place over a short time like Prometheus.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and predict that he's actually the sole survivor of the film (or at least survives with Daniels).

I think we'll learn that that there are a couple different layers to his character:  he's not all that bright, but he's highly motivated and can fly the ships.  If Daniels isn't a pilot, and if David & Walter can't be trusted, she may need him to act as her pilot.

I think he'll be an important character, but will not survive. However, depending on his character I suspect he may go out with some dignity, much like Idris Elba's Janek in Prometheus.

Both interesting comments....

Indeed its a good point about a escape would need a Pilot.... but then i am not sure that a Earth Ship would be as difficult to Pilot as say the Engineer Ships... i.e no David and Shaw is going no place...

But a fair point none the less... a Pilot would however be needed for maybe the landing and taking off portion....

As i think landing any craft and maybe taking off or leaving/entering some kind of docking bay (Think The Death Star where the Falcon was dragged into). or on and off a Aircraft Carrier is tricky and skilled work..

Once a craft is in the air... controlling it is not going to be as difficult...

I think a lot depends on how the movie ends and the next begins... if they plan for Daniels to make a escape some place else.. maybe McBride survives... if she drifts in the ship until its intercepted by another ship, then maybe he does not have to... the same goes for if another ship arrives and they escape on that.

I think there is a chance he could make it though.

@BigDave  -  "but then i am not sure that a Earth Ship would be as difficult to Pilot as say the Engineer Ships."

Yeah, it's tough to say if a human pilot would be able to figure out how to work the Juggernaut controls and escape in time.

He would quickly need to learn how to play the flute thing while making the daring escape; and like you explained above, there's a chance that at least one of their potential methods of escape ends up being compromised.

I could easily see McBride's character sacrificing himself at the last second to allow Daniels to enter a smaller escape vessel. Especially if he's the type of character to do something noble like that (or if he has a sudden change of heart in the end).

Maybe he ends up running around with the shotgun as a way to distract the ALIEN(S) from Daniels' escape?

I just have a feeling that he cares a little too much about bonus shares & will be compensated if he hands over something of value.  But bonus shares will be forfeited if a specimen is not delivered.  A new clause that was recently written into their contracts states that employees must investigate any and all signs of ALIEN life they come across... so when Walter tells them that they should go check it out, the crew is forced to comply due to this new clause written into employee contracts.

yeah, He could be ( McBride ) the "Burke" of the group. So as much as we contemplate on his survival we may want him dead sooner rather than later. lol

I think the Covenant ship is just mainly couples not in the know...

But someone does... maybe not on that ship.. but another...

What if they are being used as the Nostromo was and they get re-directed or given some information and change to go to that system...

After hell breaks loose...   another Ship Arrives and the survivors think they are saved... unknown to them that ships purpose is the companies Agenda to obtain a Specimen once the Covenant Crew are infected?

They think they have Help arriving...  but its not... so a bit like Alien 3... but Ripley susses it out and knows she is not to be rescued but to be used and kills herself.

But the Covenant Crew are not so aware....  however the rescue ship that just happens to be another ship not far away that answers the Covenants SOS....   comes to help... but then obtain a Organism... which gets loose on that ship?

Could work....

But who knows.... the leaked shot from the Covenant to me looks like a Ship way larger than the exploding landing platform prop on set...  so maybe they get stranded away from the Covenant...

Maybe they dont spend so long on Paradise and a lot is based on the Covenant like how Alien was on the Nostromo... this would give a sense of horror where on such a small ship they are confined as opposed to having Aliens chase them all over the Planets Surface.

I agree with you on that there could be someone behind the scene "watching".

I feel like that was the case in Prometheus also. there is someone (company, government, or military) who knows more than those who landed. A probe or something would have gone to the destination in both stories/movies and "checked things out" and then send in the guinea pigs....

Yeah I saw his Conan interview and he described how the cast dinners during filming kept getting smaller and smaller over the duration of filming because people were dying off.  I take that to mean he was still there, so I think he will likely be in most of the movie.

I think his role will be similar to that of Idris Elba in Prometheus, he will stay in the Covenant as the pilot and have a heroic death.
