The Alien franchise is one of the biggest and most successful media franchises of all time. Everything began when the original Alien film hit the screens back in 1979, with movies and video games being released steadily ever since. There was also the hit crossover too which saw Alien vs. Predator rise to the fore too, but many fans still yearn for original Alien content.

So, with that in mind, work has begun on a new Alien game going by the name of Alien: Blackout. The news emerged following a new 20th Century Fox trademark being registered, and it’s presumed that Cold Iron Studios will be the team behind the project. There’s a real ongoing demand for new Alien content, with the series having inspired several video games from the likes of Nintendo and Playstation, a NetEnt slot game, as well as follow-up movies and merchandise over the years.

There was rumoured to be an announcement due at The Game Awards 2018, but this wasn’t the case. However, there are a few details that have made their way into the mainstream media so far. Alien: Blackout is set to be developed for both PC and next gen consoles, which hints at next gen gameplay for the latest Alien game in the series. There’s also an indication that Alien: Blackout will feature an online mode too, which will be a sure-fire hit with players, especially as most current games are enjoyed online more than they are offline.

It’s believed that Alien: Blackout will be built using the Unreal Engine 4, which is the superb engine created by Epic Games. So, fans should expect the game development to be already well underway, with things flying under the radar so far. Players should expect a visually impressive shooter, with a well thought out online mode which will help to make the game more current than ever before. With Cold Iron Studios having worked on several MMO’s in the past under their old guise of Cryptic Studios, they are well equipped to deliver a game that every player will enjoy.

While details surrounding Alien: Blackout are currently scarce, we should all should keep an eye on social media as two Twitter accounts have already been created which suggests that this will be the way to find out the latest on the project. @AlienBlackout and @Alien_Blackout were created back in September, and while they currently don’t seem to be active, that could all change as we head into 2019. The big reveal could be made across social media after all and it would come as no surprise to fans of the franchise.

Alien: Blackout, even at this early stage, has got everyone talking. The secrecy surrounding the project has really boosted the hype surrounding the game and the continuation of what is one of the greatest media franchises of all time. Will there also be scope for further movies, video games, slot games and cross overs going forward? We’d say it’s highly likely.

The Alien: Romulus sequel is currently in development and cameras are set to roll by October, 2025! Be sure to bookmark the Alien: Romulus 2 Info Page for an up-to-date account of all available information, production updates and important details!
